11-3 at the interval for Sony.
Seems he has game 2 in hand.... but never underestimate Sony's ability to "blow a tire" and let an opponent creep back. I suspect he enjoys giving his fans heart-attacks.

Pawar playing some totally weird shots from the near side...
Sony twisting the blade in at 17-5 now...

Pawar's footwork and shape has been exceptional through most of this match. Quite a revelation. And he's been very quick in his split-step reactions. But I suspect he's running out of gas now...

Pawar is no flash in the pan. He's been a respectable player for some time, it seems to me.
This is quite a high level match for a qualification round.

Great rally, Pawar got everything back that SDK threw at him, then muffed a sure thing by smashing into the net...

True enough! Thing is, he's not been overly consistent either, which is a consistent thing for most Indian players! Learnt the badminton craft at his daddy's knee, actually!

Beauty of a rally finished off with a casual -almost bored -cross court block by SDK. He's so suave! 8-3
