i am 6 feet tall and am now weighted 184 lbs. I am 38 years old. My waist is around 38 cm. I wish to reduce my weight to 156-160 lbs. I am seriously thinking of doing liposuction. Should I do it? what other options do i have?
Change your diet and change your workout regime. Do more cardio workouts in the areas that you want to lose fat specifically (fat doesn't burn off without the presence of oxygen). Changing your workout regime should be something you seriously consider. How challenging is what you are currently doing? Have you had the same fitness regime for years? Good luck to you! Losing weight is not easy!
are you more fat or more muscle? do you have a big frame? 6ft @ 155 lbs is hard to maintain. i am at that range and i have small bones and not much muscles nor fat, just skin and bones. a more feasible range will be 165-170 lbs. best way to exercise off the weight is to have a partner / buddy / group to do it with you.
6ft at 185 is perfectly fine according to BMI. Albeit, it's almost overweight. Badminton doesn't help lose weight that much to be honest. You would be better off doing some weight training and cardio. You can't "push" yourself in badminton unless you have a partner who is willing to do some hardcore training. liposuction is not the way to go. It's extremely hard to get rid of the flabby skin as a byproduct of liposuction.
Dieting is allll about input and output.. Input what you put in your mouth Output what exercise you do. You can lose weight by eating less and doing no exercise. Or lose weight by eating normally and do MORE exercise. Your choice. Also depends on your body shape in terms of muscle mass & body fat. I actually stopped playing badminton for two-three months just to starv// I mean diet and lost 7kgs or so. I'm now only 187lbs or 85 kgs & 5'9" or 176cms I only started badminton again, but the moment I play a lot of sport, the body is trying to get me to eat more nutrients so now my weight loss has stopped. You need a lot of protein for exercise and muscle recovery. I should know I used to be vegetarian for 6 years and that sucked for sports performance/exercise. Again, you can try the atkins diet which is carb free (asians love the rice and carbs) and eat lots of protein. I did the atkins diet for a little bit and lost some weight but got annoyed at the having to avoid carbs! (WTF no more two minute noodles????) Liposuction is a bit drastic and expensive. Just do the atkins thing for a couple of weeks and see if that helps you with burning fat. Again it depends on what your body is like. you can have hardly any body fat and 99% muscles and weight 90kgs! ATM I'm 5'9 176cm 84kgs 187lbs, 36inch waist and 35 years old so I'm a bit shorter compared to you. I don't consider myself fat anymore but your BMI is better than mine! We are in a badminton forum so are you hoping to lose weight to play better badminton or you just want to look slimmer with no muscles???
i want to play better badminton, lose weight, and above all else, lose the belly (from 38cm to 32cm)!
OIC! Definitely try to eat less then but keep up the protein intake for badminton (and sports in general). Smaller meals and fasting some meals also slows the metabolism down a little. But definitely try the atkins diet before you try to do the liposuction. And drink lots of water! Water is an appetite suppressant. http://www.everythingatkins.net/inductionphase.html
Hi pcll99, To reduce weight do start some exercise, sport or some physical activity. Break your meals in 5 small meals including snacks and prefer raw food over processed food. Increase water intake, start green tea and avoid beverages and flavored juices. Avoid eating before going to bed.
thank you all! I am thinking of eating mostly apple, orange and banana, plus other veggie. Some lean mean is also considered. how about it?
Please dont do this. All you need to do is to strictly count calories and eat 10-20% less kcal than your body burns. Use this formular to calculate your RMR: 66 + (13.7 x weight in kg) + (5 x height in cm) — (6.8 x age) Multiply RMR by your activity index: 1.0 - You don't move all day long 1.2 - very light activity (easy job, no sport, walking arround a bit) 1.4 - light activity (no sport, job includes some activity) 1.6 - moderate activity (light job, regular sports) 1.8 - high activity (every day sports and medium activity at work) 2.0 - very high activity (twice a day sports or hard work and daily sports) Example: RMR = 66 + (13.7 x 76kg) + (5 x 184cm) - (6.8 x 29 years) = 1830 kcal RMR * Activity = 1830 * 1.7 = 3111 kcal is what I burn every day Deficit = 3111 * 0.8 = 2488 and 3111 * 0.9 = 2800 Conclusion: When I'm dieting I should eat between 2488 and 2800 kcal a day. This helps losing fat while maintaining muscle mass. In general you can eat what you want, just look out that you consume about 1.2g of protein per kg body mass. Green Veggies are good, white bread, potatoes, pasta is not so good. Thats it for a crash course in nutrition.
