the reason to ask to change the shuttle are;
1) the shuttle is no good,
2) you tried to break the server concentration.

the reason to refuse to change are;
3) the shuttle is Ok to play on,
4) you tried to annoy your opponents by refusing.

for 1) you may have a good reason to do so.
for 3) you don't have a good case as it's no harm to have a new one.

both 2) and 4) are just tried to play into each others head.

for the ref, if in doubt he/she will allow for a new shuttle as nothing wrong for that.

LOL. I think women are more affected. Yes. And about traits, I don't really understand, limsy, but if your intention is this only happened to 'some' players, I can say yes as well. I remember perfectly how some WS love to play this tricks. Wang Chen vs Mia Audina comes to my mind easily. Saina is young generation who involved too. . While about the guys, could see that Lin Dan or LCW or Taufik will change their shuttle almost every two points.
