My experience. After 43 yrs of playing here is my take. The old days of low tension was more forgiving to the racket (this is not to imply they were stronger than). Moving on, high tension does in a way compound the situation. Last month during a competition, I hit my partner racket as he was slow to intercept. The initial damage was paint chip. As the game go on, my shots did not go as intended. Constant look over the damage area reveal nothing new. Than during a quick snap shot the frame also snap over. Again last night, he was slow to cover the net, rush in I did, and history repeated itself. This time an even smaller paint chip was observe but again it had symptoms like before - shots not going as intended. Change racket and all was well.

Ya, had that problem - never for a long time though. Last time it only lasted for the next shot, and when I looked at my rackets after the rally, it was broken in three places

Seriously though, I had that problem once with a racket I had one bigger clash with. Turns out I had actually broken it below the paint as it folded on a smash in a later training session :/
