    has anyone else noticed this?

does your racket feel different after you have had a big clash with it? when you play a game and doing ok, and then one of those "OMG, this is it" type of clash happens, you look at your beloved racket, and despite a big paint chip it was completely alright.

but for the rest of the day and beyond, the racket don't play like it did anymore.

i have had a few people who mentioned that to me and i also have felt that before with my own rackets.

is it just psychological? or can there be something real about this?

I just had one big clash with one of my rackets and that one didn't play the way it played before. But well the racket was totally destroyed (just 2 days old :( ).
After that even my previous racket didn't feel like before so I think you kind of hold back after such a dramatic event.

If there's no frame damage... I will buy your psychologically damaged racquets for $5 each, cuz seriously, paint chip = dead racquet.

    Will pay $6 if it's a bravesword.

trust me, I'm doing you guys a favour :D

i have experienced it also... it's something stuck in my mind saying that , "my racket never perform the same again"... where else , it still ok... :) i have several high end racket which involved with big clashes (warrios 7, tornado 800, spira 21)... actually we try to protect our expensive racket even from minor clashes , but after it happens, i felt down... :) the racket still perform well for me, but 1 thing for sure, i will be very worried if my racket got a small crack (hairline crack) after the clash... i will keep on checking it several times thoroughly to ensure no crack.... :(

I never worried too much with clashes before... until my partner totally destroyed my BK racket (I was defending the incoming smash with a net shot, he was going for a clear). From what I remember though, my Bravesword 12 came out more than OK from a few (2) clashes...

I suppose the density of the racket is affected with a hairline crack resultant from the clash. That would cause the racket to have more vibrations and less power overall.

Had a major clash with one of my rackets and cracked it. Noticed that afterwards there was at least a 50% loss in hitting strength. I was struggling to get the backhands to the back of the court... Smash and drive speed were also affected.

If I held the racket by the t-joint and spun it around I also noticed that the racket wobbles when it didn't before.

All in all, once you have a heavy clash, be prepared to buy a new racket.

I had this feeling a couple months ago with my nanospeed 9900. It was a huge clash that completely ripped about an inch of paint off the frame. Yes, ripped. After that, I always felt like my racket was gonna implode and it somehow just felt flimsy. Just less solid overall. String tension also seemed to drop after the clash.

I got over it though and it plays completely fine although I feel as if it's less solid than before. Might just be the psychological damage you're talking about or maybe there really is frame damage. I'll probably never find out.

I don't mind these violent clashes. Gives me an excuse to consider getting a new racket. :)

You never need a reason to buy a new racket.. All you have to do is to tell yourself, "I want." :)

You guys worry about your rackets too much , It is just an expensive piece of carbon fiber graphite. Should really turn that focus into concentrating in the game and how to improve footwork ,speed, technique etc. Your racket is not there to win you game ........YOU ARE !

Haha...yes, the clash dishonors the player.

    Solution: honor kill the racquet
