this is a question for girls only (unless some of the guys wear skirts).
do any girls on this forum wear skirts when the play at practice or at tournaments. i have one and i've only worn it twice. i just feel silly in it. i have decent looking legs and some of my shorts are shorter than that skirt, but i still feel weird in it.

Just wondering, does the skirt by any chance slow down your movement and prevents lunging?

i'd think so, perhaps it is an unsaid rule to not wear a skirt to save one's self from teh embarassment if it should rip during a lunge

From the look of the picture, I gathered that the skirt is not long enough to impede movement and probably made of sturdier material so tearing is unlikely to happen when a lunge is performed. Also, it's loose enough so that it doesn't "ride up" on the legs. So, I don't see any problem with it

It is a rare sight to see a lady player wearing old skool attire for games, so in a way it's more attention grabbing... nothing wrong with that

Obviously, badminton skirts are made for playing badminton, so they don't prevent any badminton movement!!!
(I can't imagine professional players wearing skirts if it wasn't the case!)
Wearing badminton skirts is quite common locally, but I'm not a girl, so I can't answer to ruth1 about how it feels wearing them!

My my, I made the same remarks about Zhou Mi being hot in skirt during the WC2003 semis and I thought I was alone, but somehow I am not...

Here's a pic of Zhou Mi in similar attire that she wore in Singapore.
Badminton & Tennis
I thought about the question that ruth1 had asked when I was watching Zhou Mi taking on Wang Chen in Indonesia last week and I am not sure it does inhibit movement or they just don't care?

skirts seem to be a rising trend then - certainly we've seen a lot more players wearing them in the past year or so. If the players like to wear them, then hey, rock on.

Everybody else can revert back to shorts but Zhou Mi MUST remain in skirts...Originally posted by blckknght
