KUALA LUMPUR: Former international Alvin Chew has been signed on as coach for the Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) as the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) look to beef up their training programme.

BAM secretary Ng Chin Chai said former Asian Junior semi-finalist Alvin would begin work to groom their juniors in the school from July 1.

The Johorian, who played his part to help his state win the team badminton gold at Sukma 2000, had been moving around since leaving BAM. He has coached juniors in clubs and worked with Vietnam’s badminton team for two and half years before agreeing to return to the national team.

Said Chin Chai: “Alvin was under the BAM set-up from his junior days. He knows our system and it’s good to have him as a coach. Besides coaching, he has also has management experience.”
