as i receive more and more rackets from an expanding set of clients, i have started to see some unusual / strange rackets. from the overly tied top mains to some "custom" painted rackets.

here is one that i got not long ago:

I would surely say "WTF" if I received that racket :p

The weirdest I get is people bringing their 10-20$ rackets for stringing, I usually tell them to just buy a new one :p

P.S. I sent you a PM, just in case your inbox is full (if that is even possible for admins :p)

My friend has a racket strung like that too. His stringer told him that it provides more support towards the top of racket so the string won't break as easily. Personally, I think it looks funny and feels weird o_O

Note that it isn't just "CHEAP"; it's "Cheap Max"! :)

My weirdest so far was a racket whose strings had been "fixed" a few times, rather than replaced. I think I counted 7 knots altogether. Including one outside the frame. It hadn't affected how this guy played, I just hadn't seen that before.

that stringing technique is from badminton alley, i've had that done before to prevent strings from "snapping" near the top, supposedly, but not sure if it actually works.

the string segment that breaks is the top of the main string, because the shuttle hits it and it is being flexed due to the top frame and the top cross string supporting it.

adding extra stiffness in the top cross will only make the matter worse.

yes. most people who had that stringer hated it.

just to clarify, it wasn't strung by badminton alley.

I was told something similar as well. But this will actually mess up the tension of the strings itself on the racket as that coiled part is not tensioned. They will also kill/damp the response that is actually coming off the string bed as well. I will never recommend this to be done on rackets.
