It is really strange!!! Edi Subaktiar/Melati Daeva Oktaviani is not seeded, while Arsya Isnanu/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari is seeded no 1. also in the WD, Melati/Rosyita is not seeded.

Edi-Arya is seeded #1... look at the draw... As for the GD, yes it is strange that Melati-Rosyita is not even seeded. Actually, only the Thai GD pair was seeded...

Oh, Bayu Pangisthu is on track to face Sitthikom the 1st seed [and defending champion] from Thailand. Bayu has no power now, but he grew to 180 cm and has very highly developed badminton skills... One day he can prove to be a top world contender...

I know Edi/Arya is the first seed, but Edi/Melati is not. that's strange.

    Selected matches for R16 today:

    BS R16
    Sitthikom Thammasin
[1] vs M. Bayu Pangisthu - asKrisna expected...Bayu vs the top-seed. The top-seed will probably retain his title this week, with the absence of Vito, Gifar, and Panji.

Thomi Azizan Mahbub [3] vs Pannawit Thongnuam [9] - Thomi needs to beat the Thai and probably face the top-seed if he's to be considered for the WJC spot.

Ari Januari [11] vs Satheistharan R.

Tan Teck Han vs Fikri Ikhsandi H. [4] - ditto for Fikri, he needs to reach SF at least and face the second-seed.

    M. Gustaf Firdaus [13] vs Khosit Phetpradab [2]

    GS R16
    Ami Ueno
    vs Ervine Felicia Tiara

Alisa Sapniti [8] vs Amelia Sonia Kartika [10]

Rena Asela vs Pornpawee Chochuwong [7]

Miyuki Kato vs Hanna Ramadini [2] - Hanna is still the top GS for WJC and she needs to beat a few foreign players to win the title and convince us.

    BD R16
    Edi Subaktiar/Arya Maulana Aldiartama
[1] vs Enrico Harly/Hidayat Setiawan - I am eagerly awaiting for a clash between Edi/Arya and Kevin/Rafi in the SF.

    M. Sidik/M. Tegar vs Lee Zii Jia/Soh Wooi Yik

Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Rafiddias Akhdan Nugroho [6] vs Aldo Abdillah/Alfian Sangaji - this is possibly the toughest matches involving INA pairs. Kevin/Rafi to beat Aldo/Alfian for the 3rd time in 2 months, after the victory in the Sirnas Jakarta and Bandung.

Chang Tak Ching/Tang Chun Man vs Hafiz Faisal/Putra Eka Rhoma [5] - Hafiz/Putra need to reach the Final to reedem themselves after an early exit last week.

    GD R16
Maria Natalia/Monika Sandia vs Miyuki Kato/Ami Ueno

Apriani/Khoirunisa Dina vs Melati Daeva Oktaviani/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari - it's an excellent opportunity for Melati/Rosyita to win 7000 pts this week and boost their seeding for the WJC.

    XD R16
Arsya Isnanu Ardi Putra/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari
[1] vs Russell Muns/Naeda Fitri Latifah - Arsya/Rosyita to progress.

Edi Subaktiar/Melati Daeva Oktaviani vs Topas Wismoyo/Firas Hasna - indeed, it's strange for Edi/Melati not to be seeded 1st in this tourney. Nevertheless, I expect them to win the title here after a slight disappointment last week.

Ricky Alverino Sidharta/Febriani Endar Kusumawati vs Aldo Abdillah/Desaula Gendy - Edi/Melati to face Aldo/Desaula in the QF, which is a repeat of Sirnas Jakarta Final.

All results are as expected, except for Thomi Azizan Mahbub who failed to beat the Thai youngster :(

    Picks of the QF matches:
    BS QF
    Sitthikom Thammasin
[1] vs Ihsan Maulona Mustofa [14] - it's gradually turning into an all-THA Final on Saturday.

Pannawit Thongnuam [9] vs Feby Ardiansyah Ramadhan - again, the THA player should advance, after beating Thomi Azizan Mahbun.

Ari Januari [11] vs Fikri Ikhsandi Hadmadi [4] - Fikri could turn out to be the only INA BS player in the SF.

Reksy Aureza Megananda [6] vs Khosit Phetpradab [2] - Reksy fulfills his seeding but he's unlikely to beat the Thai boy.

    GS QF
Aurum Oktavia Winata vs Ami Ueno

Setyana Mapasa [3] vs Alisa Sapniti [8] - the first test for Setyana. Let's see if she can beat the Thai girl.

Pornpawee Chochuwong [7] vs Ruselly Hartawan [14] - I don't think Ruselly can beat the Thai.

Rafika Mutiara Guniarti vs Hanna Ramadini [2] - Hanna to progress.

    BD QF
    Edi Subaktiar/Arya Maulana Aldiartama
[1] vs Lee Zii Jia/Soh Wooi Yik - the first and only foreign opponent for Edi/Arya this week. The newly crowned AJC champion should take the match.

    M. Rian Ardianto/Clinton Hendrik vs Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Rafiddiash Akhdan Nugroho [6] - Kevin/Rafi to set-up a potentially mouth-watering clash against Edi/Arya in the SF.

Tedi Supriadi/Yantoni Edy Saputra [7] vs Hantoro/Arsya Isnanu Ardi Putra [2] - after Edi/Arya and Kevin/Rafi, these 2 pairs are PB Djarum's the next strongest Taruna (U-19) pairs. Each has already won a Sirnas title this year and it will be interesting to see who will prevail tomorrow.

Hafiz Faisal/Putra Eka Rhoma vs Septian Eka P./R. Eka Fajar Kusuma - also a clash between PB Jaya Raya's strongest pairs. Strangely, Rian Swastedian is not competing this week in both BD and XD. Instead, R. Eka Fajar Kusuma is paired with another player. Hafiz/Putra to progress to the SF and challenge PB Djarum's pair.

    GD QF
Dini Fitri/Inten Ratnasari vs Miyuki Kato/Ami Ueno - the Japanese pair should be Melati/Rosyita's opponent in the Final.

Melati Daeva Oktaviani/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari vs Sheren Regina Ntsir/Widya Tiffany - Melati/Rosyita to progress.

    XD QF
    Edi Subaktiar/Melati Daeva Oktaviani
vs Aldo Abdillah/Desaula Gendy - a repeat of Sirnas Jakarta Final (which went to the rubber-set). Edi/Melati have the edge.

Wow..the 3 INA GS players beat foreign opponents, all of them in 3 tight-sets (23-21 and 22-20 in two matches).

As expected, INA will only be represented by Fikri Ikhsandi Hadmadi in the SF of the BS.

It will be an all-INA SF in GS, BD, and XD. There's one more Japanese pair left in the GD and they should face Melati Daeva Oktaviani/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari in the Final.

    BS SF
    Sitthikom Thammasin
[1] vs Pannawit Thongnuam [9] - the top-seed to retain the title.

Fikri Ikhsandi Hadmadi [4] vs Khosit Phetpradab [2] - it will be a great result if Fikri can beat the second-seed.

    GS SF
Aurum Oktavia Winata vs Setyana Mapasa [3] - Setyana to challenge Hanna for the title.

Ruselly Hartawan [14] vs Hanna Ramadini [2] - the chance is open for Hanna to add 7000 pts to her junior ranking in preparation for the upcoming WJC.

    BD SF
Edi Subaktiar/Arya Maulana Aldiartama [1] vs Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Rafiddias Akhdan Nugroho [6] - if only they have live-streaming.....this is the most-awaited match. Newly crowned AJC champion vs the new kids on the block who will be groomed to takeover their reign next year. I am actually hoping for Kevin/Rafi to win.

Hantoro/Arsya Isnanu Ardi Putra [3] vs Hafiz Faisal/Putra Eka Rhoma [5] - also a mouth-watering clash between PB Djarum vs Jaya Raya's BD pairs. Hafiz/Putra have the edge.

    GD SF
Tri Okta Shelina/Monika Intan Tutiharta vs Miyuki Kato/Ami Ueno

Maretha Dea Giovani/Imma Muthiah Khairunisa vs Melati Daeva Oktaviani/Rosyita Eka Putra Sari

    XD SF
Arsya Isnanu Ardi Putra/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari [1] vs Edi Subaktiar/Melati Daeva Oktaviani - Edi/Melati should beat their team-mates.

Yudhi Satrio/Ni Ketut Mahadewi vs Tedi Supriadi/Della Augustia Surya - Tedi/Della have emerged as a strong XD pair recently and will be a contender for the AJC & WJC next year.

I think Kevin-Rafi will not win tomorrow, but they will do their best... maybe a rubber set... I still expect a Edi-Arya vs. Hafiz-Putra final in BD...

This confirms my prediction that Kevin/Rafi will indeed beat Edi/Arya. Now, will they take on Hafiz/Putra or Hantoro/Arsya?
