    Hi BC,

I recently purchased a NR700RP 3U and I find that it lacks power on a smash. I've been playing mostly with head-heavy racquets and this is my first head-light racquet. So far i've been happy with its nimbleness and speed near the net. And drops/clears were indistinguishable from a head-heavy racquet except that the swings seem a lot faster. So I'm just wondering if there's anything at all I can do to help compensate for the seeming lack of power on a smash shot with this or any other head-light racquet for that matter.

    Thanks in advance

Try to add some weight on the top of the racket.

You want a head light racket to smash as hard as a head heavy racket? That kinda defeats the purpose of having a head light racket which focuses on speed rather than power. If you want the same power you gotta swing harder.

Why are you being so snide? He's right, by adding weight to the top, your smash will be harder, but at the exchange of the nimbleness of the racquet. You can't buy a head light racquet and expect it to be as powerful as a head heavy racquet; it's one or the other.

How can you "add weight" to your racquet? And my apologies because at first glance it didn't make any sense to me.

With all respect, this racket is not designed for smash power. You can do a little by using a high repulsion string, and maybe adding some lead tape at the head, but still, it's not the purpose of this racket. This racket is strong in speed and drives, but I find the Nanospeed 9900 the most powerfull from the head light series from Yonex. Maybe you are using the wrong racket and try another?

That's right. I also do recommend to change to a head heavy racquet if you want more smash power, in exchange with maneuverability though.

i agree on the nanospeed 9900 being pretty much the best balance between power and speed in the head light racket series. i am not a strong smasher, so i find nanoray series useless because i can't hit hard enough to get decent smash power/speed. but they are so light which cut my responses time by a big chunk :)
