Wow, I'm surprised you managed to break it at that tension. bg95 is ridiculously durable. Although I haven't tried bg99 yet, judging from it's reviews, it's a better performing string than bg95 in all categories except for durability. So if you don't mind the decrease in durability, I say go for it.
There are many factors to consider when choosing a string, and durability is only one of them. NBG99 is a great string, nice sound and repulsion, excellent power and control. Durability is good as well, though I won't be surprised it won't last as long as BG65. It is a bit pricey and not as easy to get as the ol faithful BG65, but as CanadianBadmint pointed out, if you don't mind reduced durability (not much IMO), just go for it. Based on my personal experience with NBG99, I agree with the comment that NBG99 pretty much outperforms NBG95 in all aspects except in durability, although power wise it is a bit different. It is like NBG95 has a higher maximum power limit where as NBG99 has a higher average power output The feel is also different, although both are rated "medium feeling", NBG95 does feel numb. NBG99 feels lively and is far superior in this aspect.
NBG95 has a good durability. But if the BG65 don't breaks at 24lbs for several month you can't complain about this. I don't think, that the NBG95 last longer than the BG65. Maybe you can try Ashaway ZyMax 70 (its also cheaper).
Don't like the 95. It's slippery and yes, I agree with the feeling of it being 'numb'. Extended durability doesn't outweigh those disadvantages for me.
