Some news fr people in N America :

    1) Rupert Murdoch's Star is negotiating wihh AOL-Time-

Warner to bring Star to US TV and Us programs to China.

    2) IBF has given all it's TV rights to a private management Co.

Perhaps there will be more broadcasts now that badminton on

    TV has been commercialised.

    3) I have been told by an American Hawaii that it is quite

common to receive Star by sattelite on East Coast of US.

    Badminton on TV in Canada????

    Dear fellow badminton companions,

I have a question to ask the ones who know. Is there any badminton on TV in Canada, and I heard one of the reasons that the games were shortened to 7x5 was because of advertising. But how come I don't see much of this in effect, I hope soon Badminton would be on tv and it will be a more common sport in Canada. Another reason for shortening the games were to put commercials in between the games.

The only times I know that badminton is shown for sure on tv are the summer olympics and the pan-am games. I don't know of anything else. I'm just as curious as you about it being on tv though.

Evanston's a beautiful but boring suburb half an hr's drive away from Chicago.

1 hr 45 minutes to my next class... how can I live without the Internet? =P

Chicago's in the Midwest or Mideast (can never remember which) of the USA. It is windy alright. And the weather's pretty erratic too. It was so cold this morning, I was jumping all the way to class. Then it got so hot in the afternoon, but I didn't dare take off my jacket coz you never know when the wind might come. Add that to a pile of readings on the second day of school, a boring lecture tt I don't even know why I signed up for and NO BADMINTON......... tt's enuff to drive anyone crazy.

    Sorry, I'm complaining again.

I think most of you could have missed the significance of IBF
leasing their TV rights to a private co. It means that instead of sitting on their fat assess the IBF can collect royalties from the co. anytime it chooses to make broadcast or produce programs or Vcd's. Given future economic outlook an enterprising private co should be able to develop badminton in the media as they have a profit incentive. At least there is something to look forward to.

    Re: Badminton on TV

Thank you Sam, though I really dun think I have time to do anything except study (and spend some time on my favorite badminton site) at the moment. I'm already feeling stressed out and the first week isn't even over.

I had another s***ty day today coz I couldn't get this course I wanted. In an act of defiance, I skipped my original class for this one and bought the required reading material as well. I hope Heaven is moved by my determination. SIGH.
