looking at some of the previous year's results...

5 players have won consecutive Gold medals:
    • Ge Fei / Gu Jun
      • WD - 1996
      • WD - 2000
    • Zhang Jun / Gao Ling
      • XD - 2000
      • XD - 2004
    • Zhang Ning
      • WS - 2004
      • WS - 2008
1 player has won Gold medal in more than one discipline:
    • Kim Dong Moon
      • XD - 1996
      • MD - 2004
This year, a couple of records can likely happen:
    • Lin Dan be the first person to win 2 consecutive Gold Medals
    • Yu Yang be the first person to win 2 consecutive Gold Medals with 2 different partners
    • Lee Yong Dae can be the 2nd person 2 win 2 separate event after KDM

his ex-compatriot (KDM) did it before (as stated in 1st post)...so LYD (2nd person) will follow in KDM's footsteps..

The first clean sweep in Olympic badminton history.
The first player to win 2 golds at the same game.

    The list goes on

If INA fails to get Gold, it'll be 1st time in INA badminton history not to get a Gold in badminton...

But KDM didn't do it in consecutive years. 1996 and 2004 not 1996 and 2000 :p

Now, we have the first badminton player get a medal after lost twice, first in SF then in the bronze match as well.

Saina Nehwal of India indeed made history.

That s false. Saina won the bronze. WX retired. If retiring while ahead constitutes a win, badminton would have a record number of retirements in future. That s why when Poland MD injured and retired while ahead of THA MD, THA MD judged as winners. Stop the mind duping.

She is just lucky. At least the bronze will keep her in low profile for the next four years.

i didn't actually said retries as a winner. sometime you have a win win situation and sometime a lost lost as in this case.
SN lost the game and WX lost the medal.
