Viktoria Komova is about to start her uneven bars routine. She has been described by her coach as having the ability to fly.
Asuka Teramoto (寺本明日香) is one talented gymnast! My jaw dropped when I first saw her on TV in the NHK Cup a couple of years back. In the difficult apparatus of the balance beam, which has always been giving much problems even to the top gymnasts, she was glued down to it like a fly to sticky paper. Unfortunately, an ankle injury deprived her of much needed time for training, and she had to resort to electrical therapy to help her recover. Japan has qualified for the WAG team finals in sixth place. おめでとう!
Whenever I see those athletes performing in bar events, I can't help but remember this one scene in Final Destination 5... *sorry*
Just concluded in minutes ago, the MEN'S TEAM - FINAL Results: Gold: CHN 275.997 points Silver: JPN 271.952 points Bronze: GBR 271.711 points JPN team just surpassed GBR with a very narrow-margin and involved a 'formal inquiry' to the performance of one of its gymnast! UKR at the 4th position with 271.526. It's an intense and very competitive race
yup, a fantastic feat from GB team while a very very crazy moment for JPN team, congrats for Japan and GB for getting the medal everyone in the hall got crazy, they never think that the GB team would score a medal
For the good remembrance long into the future of the very brave and highly talented men with amazing muscular powers yet superb flexibility, i list here the whole members of the winning teams in Men's Team - Final of the Gymnastics - Artistic. One of the most admirable branch of sport!!! CHINA (Gold medalist, 275.997 points) CHEN Yibing FENG Zhe GUO Weiyang ZHANG Chenglong ZOU Kai JAPAN (Silver medalist, 271.952 points) Ryohei KATO Kazuhito TANAKA Yusuke TANAKA Kohei UCHIMURA Koji YAMAMURO GREAT BRITAIN (Bronze medalist, 271.711 points) Sam OLDHAM Daniel PURVIS Louis SMITH Kristian THOMAS Max WHITLOCK A mention of honor to the rest of the capable teams in the final round: UKR (271.526 points); USA (269.952); RUS (269.603); GER (268.019); and FRA (265.441). Note, each team consists of 5 members and each member needs to accomplish 6 tools (Floor, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar), to make up the total number of performances as many as 30 times in any particular round!!! And all the daring, mighty, exhausting and somewhat risky actions are just to earn ONE holy grail, super glorious, super precious medal !!! My deep respects and admiration to all artistic gymnasts. Hat off. At the some point, I did see the faces of both winners and losers were filled up with tears, for all the efforts and pains they're experiencing during the arduous process...in training and competition what a really strong show of the genuinely deep emotions... Japanese boys almost got their silver robbed. I would say China and Japan deserved their respective gold and silver.
Wow! Epic battle between the two greats in the uneven bars. Both Viktoria Komova and He Kexin scoring 15.766 in the WAG Team Final. Can't wait to see them fight it out in the Individual Apparatus. Viktoria's tremendous amplitude is due to her clever use of the bar's elastic rebound, and she has the appearance of being able to fly. He Kexin difficulty level is almost unfathomable. Their strengths in the uneven bars is something that I have not yet seen to date. And that is from the time of Nadia Comăneci.
Congrats to US for the Women's Team gold! I'm puzzled though how did China got edged out of the medals? Only managed to watch the last few routines by the US
Congratulations to the "Flying Squirrel" Gabrielle Douglas for winning the All Around. The American gymnasts are so good at vaulting. It had been a close and exciting fight.
Congrats Gabrielle...absolutely loves her esp after finishing Floor exercise....the crowds going wild
Gabrielle Douglas is so athletic and she reminds me of Gael Monfils. Viktoria Komova should have won gold if she landed properly on vault given that high difficulty.
I read somewhere that Gabby's mom works 3 jobs just to support Gabby preparation to OG What a fairytale story ended with big results Now all the sponsors will want to support her Thumbs up !!!!
What a shock to see McKayla not gaining sufficient height, under rotating and ending up sitting down in the women's apparatus final for the vault. The gold went to yet another Romanian, Sandra Raluca Izbasa, after Monica Roşu won in 2004, Simona Amânar in 1996 and Lavinia Miloşovici in 1992. Next up is the showdown between Viktoria Komova and He Kexin in the uneven bars. I hope they will tie for the gold medal. It would be heartbreaking for any one of them to have to settle for silver.
