It means that GBR pair was excellent for a shorter race such as a 3-round one! Men's Synchronised 10m Platform Final - Monday, 30 July 2012 15:00 1 CHN: CAO Yuan / ZHANG Yanquan 486.78 2 MEX: GARCIA NAVARRO Ivan / SANCHEZ SANCHEZ German 468.90 3 USA: BOUDIA David / McCRORY Nicholas 463.47 4 GBR: DALEY Thomas / WATERFIELD Peter 454.65 5 CUB: AGUIRRE Jeinkler / GUERRA Jose Antonio 450.90 6 RUS: ZAKHAROV Ilya / MINIBAEV Victor 449.88 7 GER: HAUSDING Patrick / KLEIN Sascha 446.07 8 UKR: GORSHKOVOZOV Oleksandr / BONDAR Oleksandr 433.32 btw China sets target to do a clean sweep of all 8 gold medals on offer in diving, one notch higher than the last time in Beijing 2008.
It was a difficult field out there .... the Chinese and Mexicans were way ahead of the rest and probably the only 2 who were consistently great. From 3rd to 8th, it all depends on how many tiny mistakes were made.
Was watching with high hopes last night, was hoping that the pair could at least get a bronze but it was just not meant to be. Pandalela and Mun Yee's arms were always not in sync in their routines. Mun Yee's messy back dive entry also cost the pair some points. Anyways, best wishes for the MAS diving team and Im looking forward the men's next event and the individuals event.
LUO Yutong / QIN Kai just won the 4th Gold medal for China team from Men's Synchronised 3m Springboard. Silver for Russia and Bronze for USA. 1 CHN: LUO Yutong / QIN Kai 477.00 2 RUS: Ilya ZAKHAROV / Evgeny KUZNETSOV 459.63 3 USA: Troy DUMAIS / Kristian IPSEN 446.70 MAS pair, HUANG Qiang / Bryan Nickson LOMAS is positioned at 8/8 with 405.09 points
Finally, Chinese divers had to bow to the unheralded Russian in the 3m springboard men's event. And the Russian was among the lowest of the qualifiers ..... talk about improving your standards at the final.
Malaysian diver Pandelela Rinong Pamg just doubled her country's OLY medals with a bronze in the 10m platform. Congratulations!!
Wow, AlanY, you are faster than me. Congrats to Pandeela, in the beginning she looked like she wasnt going make it as she didnt do well in 2 dives. This is Msia's 1st medal in diving.
Damn it, every time I read the thread's topic I'm thinking of diving for the shuttle but then I read the forum it was posted in -.-
None of the divers did very consistent scores - except the gold medallist. From silver medal position to sixth, the gap was only 10 pts. And the last place finisher was only another 10 pts behind. Such a close contest for minor medals.
Ya, it's been that way since the preliminary rounds. Even China's Hu Yadan went down to bottom of the pack, that's very surprising. I have never seen her dive this bad. She and the gold medalist, Chen RL had always finished 1,2 in competitions. The silver medalist from Aust is a surprise too, a newcomer.
