it'll depend on his political connections... as is the case for many officials in higher authority in china

if he has an enemy higher up or his bosses want to make an example of him, then he's gone

but if his team brings home gold for ws, wd, ms, xd, and even possibly md, then you can bet he's safe

the country, no matter what happened, will find firing a head coach that bring in 3-4 Gold Medal hard to fire.

as of this moment, China already guaranteed 1 Gold and 1 Silver in XD, WD Gold pretty much just a formality, WS guaranteed a Silver if not a Gold, and MS/MD with decent probability to get Gold as well. LYB just need to pray that he get 4 or maybe 5 Golds. then his seat will be very secure.

Li Mao? Coaching a team with Lin Dan in it? Do you guys have short term memory loss or something?

Granted, Lin Dan only has a year or so left of playing, however I'm sure China will want to keep him in some possible coaching roll at some level within the squad. He won't do that with Li Mao present.

after reading the various articles posted, i really doubt li yongbo will be fired given that he easily achieve the minimum 2 golds that he said earlier. Is like why among so many world champions by china back then? he is chosen as the head coach. Yang Yang, Xiong Guobao, Zhao Jianhua or even his former partner, Tian Bingyi can be given the post. Back then, Tang Xianhu is not that old either. From those articles, it is obvious that he knows the top management very well.

if there is neccessary for him to leave, he will be asked to resign and go nicely.

another chief coach will come in. strategy? just the same old way.... different executor.
