Gosh, I hope she is alright after the surgery. Probably my favourite women single's player.
I didn't watch the match, but if the crowd really booed her after she hurt herself, I am disgusted.

Well now China lost 2 key players due to knee injury.. earlier it was Lin Wang now its Xin Wang. Both of them used to beat Saina!!! now there are only 2 left who can beat her, Yihan and XR Li.
LW and XW got injured in similar angle while they tried to hit the shuttle with jump at rear.
One needs to have really really really strong muscles on their Knees to avoid this kind of Injuries.
Once you get injured that toooo on Knee their career is over!!! see Lin Wang who came back after year and she can hardly move on the court as compared to past..

This is what I saw while watching it. Wang Xin asked for the floor to be mopped and the Umpire refused. Whether or not she slipped on the same spot she wanted mopped I don't know.
But the Umpire should have let the floor be mopped. That is a concern to player safety and shouldn't have been risked in the first place.
Wang Xin rightfully should have been the Bronze Medalist, but unfortunately she is not.

Fans can be plain stupid or annoying or selfish at times. They think they paid $$$, and every game has to be a 5-hr nail bitter, favorit team/player always need to be the winner, etc.
I guess sitting on a comfortable seat, with popcorn and beer in hand, yelling and screaming blindly regardless the situation is a bit easier than years of tears and sweat.
Welcome to the real world.

Here's the video clip (2+ minutes only). She was injured when the score was 20 - 17, and she's playing the next point.

Unable to locate above news link in Hindustan Times site only found this one sourced from "Press Trust of India, PTI":

which is just a very normal and correct reporting!
Btw, any time you read ANY news in any mass media or online site, remember to pay attention to the quoted SOURCE of the news (the most dominating sources are REUTERS; AFP; AP; and few others) because the NEWS CLIENTS: the printed newspapers and online sites, which subscribe to the news output by those news aggregators just have choice to EITHER carry on such news IN FULL OR abandon it.
They are NOT allowed to edit any of its substances even though the newspaper's editors may not totally agree with all of its content!!!
