I'm a defensive player who's still working on his smash. I don't play competitively at the moment, but I've played the sport through high school and I'd like to start playing again either casually or with a club. When I do play, I play both singles and doubles, but marginally more of the latter. I'm somewhere between beginner and intermediate, and from what I gather, I'd prefer control over power.

Below are the parameters, but I'm open to advice contrary to any point.
    • Somewhat head heavy would be good, but balanced is fine.
    • Preferably isometric.
    • 3U or 4U.
    • Flexible.
I'd appreciate it if you could give me a recommendation covering three price ranges: $50-$100, $101-$150, and $150<. Obviously, any suggestion is greatly appreciated and you don't need to cover all three price ranges for your post to be of value to me.

    Try Yonex nanospeed 100
    Pros
    - entry graphite racket
    - flexible shaft
    - 3U, not too heavy.

    Cons
    - smash wise, there are other rackets that are more "forgiving" compare to this.
need to have right technique to have a good smash.

Arcsaber 7 is rated as medium flex but it is amazingly easy to play with.

Those are wonderful suggestions. Thanks for taking the time to make them. Funnily enough, a local sports retailer stocks just three high-end racquets, and they are the first three recommendations on this page.

At the moment, I'm leaning towards the Nanospeed 100, but it seems to vary in price dramatically between retailers and online stores. In the case of the former, it's priced at $100, and in the case of the latter, it's as low as $40.

Next time I'm around the shop, I'll ask to see if I can get a discount like I managed with my other, cheaper racquet.

For Nanospeed 100, the latest white colour 2012 racket may cost more.
For 2010/2011 models, they cost less (red, black) but have the same specs.

i dont know much about the price of rackets in europe.....
my suggestion for you would be VT60....
flexible, light(it's 4U), slightly head heavy and iso head.....
based on the description you gave, VT60 fits perfectly, try to ask for some discount...
if not, ARC001 and ARC002 would be another cheaper alternatives.....
