I remember in the 1980s, a lot of the men's doubles players used stand on tip-toe when they served short (I think the backhand short serve was not as universal as it is today).

When did it change and why? Did it just go out of fashion? I still do it against a good serve rusher if I know I have to keep my serve under 2 or 3 inches over the tape.

A lady player in my club does tip-toe serving. Personally, it looks kinda funny to me when she does it...
