I see the scratch pair of Chayut Triyachart (SIN) and Ng Hui Ern (MAS) are doing very well in XD.

They even beat No.1 seed Singapore's Tery Yeo and Delis Yuliana in three games yesterday.

Chayut is without his regular partner Yao Lei, who just returned from the Olympics after a very disappointing WD showing with Shinta.

Let's see whether Chayut and Hui Ern can be as lucky against INA's Alfian and Gloria (#4) in this evening's SF.

Chayut will also partner Danny Bawa Chrisnanta in MD against TPE's Liang Jui Wei and Liao Kua Hao (#4). But the SIN pair are the top seed.

It should be an interesting SF evening with many of Singapore's players in action as follows.

WS - Xing Aiying (2) v Chen Sian Huan (7) TPE
WD - Aiying & Fu Mingtian (2) v Kugo Asumi & Meumi Yokoyama, JPN
XD - Chayut & Hui Ern (MAS) v Alfian & Gloria (4) INA
WS - Fu MT (1) v Pai Yu Po, TPE
MS - Ashton Chen (1) v Dharma Alrie Guna (3) INA
    MD - Danny & Chayut (1) v Lian & Liao (4) TPE

witnessed part of the semi final today.

Wonder anyone has the bio data of this Indonesian-Dharma Alrie Guna? He doesn't look like an Indonesian, he looks like a Chinese. Quite good looking though. :P

Japanese secure the WD final tomorrow. During the match between Miyauchi/Fukushima and the Ng's sisters, a crazy man shouted: "Malaysia Boleh", "Singapore tak boleh" as the next court featuring Fu/Xing from Singapore. Everyone was looking at him. I think the guy who was sitting beside me was anti this man, he shouted:"ganbare nippon"

Actually the Ng's sisters are actually more experienced than the Japanese, I never expected the Japanese to win. They made a lot of mistakes today, they should have better mutual understanding compared to the Japanese as they are sisters, but this is not true. They were worsen than the Japanese today. They were leading about 4-5 points after the interval in each game, but they couldn't get it done. Since Fukushima has joined Renesas, I think she wanted to specialized in doubles, instead of singles. I think Okuhara doesn't have to worry.

On the other court featuring another pair of Japanese Kugo/Yokoyama who defeated the second seed easily. After their match, an old lovely Japanese couple sat next to me gave them a present. They looked pleased.

Will phil-mm go to watch tomorrow?

Talked with the Japanese and took a photo with them after the match. They are so kind! I was given a Li Ning N70 racket by Kugo that she won at the final.

yes, they are sponsored by Yonex. I mean the racket they were given as a present during the victory ceremony. Since they are sponsored by Yonex, they can't use Li Ning racket, thus they gave me I believe.

I was there during the SF and Finals. Delighted to see so many new players of relatively high standard. Unfortunately did not see Suetyan.

The seating gallery was a long narrow strip against the back wall, with about three rows of seats that could only accommodate a limited number of fans and visitors. Certainly not as ideal as the large badminton halls in Toa Payoh, Tampines, etc, that used to host such tournaments.

Default The many faces of Pai

It was the WS semis and the unseeded Pai Yu Po (TPE) proved to be a very tough opponent for Singapore's Fu Mingtian (#1) before losing in three closely-fought games 14-21, 21-19, 21-18 in slightly more than an hour.

It appeared Fu was suffering from an elbow injury and this showed when she lost timidly to teammate Xing Aiying in the finals 21-10, 21-8 in just 25 min.

Pai was the centre of attraction with her 'spunky' hairdo as opposed to Fu's more subdued image. But both ladies put on some other accessories to add more colour to the occasion.

Perhaps you can make out what are these that make them different.
