...or loop a bit of old string around the obstructing string and pull it out of the way. Because I don't trust myself with the awl for this manoeuvre, I put spare bits of string at these spots whilst tensioning the mains. Then it's all set when you come to those crosses. Pulls out easily when you're done. Slower than the awl method, but less prone to slipping and scratching the frame (or drawing blood).
I have seen UK stringers do that but they use a starting clamp to move string and do it with ease. Me I personally go underneath the string very carefully with an awl and push it up,
The man knows the job well, it prevents headache afterward. A string mover is recommended to move the string which blocks the grommet because the angled endpoint is not too sharp to damage either the string or the racket.
that is an awesome tool. it would have made my stringing a lot quicker when i first started stringing. fortunately for me the people i string for aren't advance players so the tension is always pretty loose (under 26lbs) so i have no problem just pushing the string thru by itself. but i'm going to get that just in case i wanted to string my rackets at a higher tension like 28lbs. thank you for sharing!!!
i spoke to eagnas regarding this tool since i was also planning to buy it. Then I came to know that this tool is for tennis rackets only & won't work on badminton rackets. Sorry for that It's my bad.
