a truly under rated training method

saw some post saying skipping beginners should try 3 sets of 10mins.. i can run 4km 23mins... i couldnt feel my legs after the first minute of skipping... lol

rope skipping is mother of all plyometrics..

hows your skipping routine? any tips?

I personally don't skip rope for baddy training, but make sure you use a leather rope. It adds more resistance!

I think you're just not used to it

Once you get the hang of how to skip, it really is not that hard.

I can do Triples... and Doubles are so easy I can talk/joke around while I do so. (For me, double skip is more like.... hopping on the same spot for non-stop, so it's really not that tiring. Triples wear me out very fast)

then again... I haven't stop skipping for badminton since my dad taught me how to double skip more than 5 years ago.

once you get the hang of skipping, regular skipping is as easy as walking and doubles will be similar to jogging.
That being said, it's still a fun exercise capable of giving you a very good workout.

That's an odd definition of "beginner". I started with 20 sets of 25 seconds, with 15 sec rest in between (just under 15 min total)--try to copy the pace of a singles match, where you get to catch your breath in between rallies. As you get better, make the rests shorter or add more sets, or throw in some doubles.

3 sets of 10 mins?? thats something really new. if you can do 1 set of 10 mins of skipping straight at a relatively decent pace, your calves should be pretty strong. you can add variety to the skipping like front-back two legs, front-back cross leg, side to side. all this does help to train the reflects. like the guy above said, do doubles or triples if you can. still trying to learn how to do a double myself.

I forgot I bought a rope since I got my pull-up bar, cheers for the reminder I shall get back to it. I can't even do doubles yet but it is on my to-do list. I felt girlie so I had to add boxing hand-weights ;)
