This second SS after London OG is still less participant particularly for doubles category due to post-Olympic impact plus massive withdrawal of CHN shuttlers.

Today's qualifying round will stage MS and WS only.

    Tokyo time : http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_JP.aspx

    2011 Winners

    MS : Chen Long (CHN)
    WS : Wang Yihan (CHN)
MD : Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng (CHN)
WD : Bao Yixin/Zhong Qianxin (CHN)
XD : Chen Hung Ling/Cheng Wen Hsing (TPE)

No problem, you or other BCers can create new thread for each round of JPN SS ;)

This year's Japan open is a joke.

None of the reigning champions to defend their titles.
None of the world ranked no 1
None of the world champions and
None of the newly crowned Olympics champions.

All Japanese WS secured 4 main draw tickets while two home players plus Sai Praneeth B. and Derek Wong fill 4 slots for MS discipline.

Sindhu faces tough second round with Yeon Ju Bae, if she clears first round.

With no CHN, KOR players around, we shall see how the INA players (a small contingent though) fare.

    MS R32
    Simon Santoso
[3] vs Hsu Jen Hao - realistically, Simon should reach SF this week, although old Taufik might beat him in the QF.

Taufik Hidayat [7] vs P. Kashyap - Kashyap is no longer a pushover, so, it will be a very tough match for Taufik. Still, Taufik is expected to reach at least QF.

Boonsak Ponsana vs Sony Dwi Kuncoro - a tricky first start for Sony. A R16 finish will be a good result for him.

    MD R32
Akira Koga/Taichi Saito vs Hendra A. Gunawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki - also a tricky match for AG/Yoke. Let's hope they can reach R16.

Takuta Inoue/Yuki Kaneko vs Markis Kido/Alvent Yulianto Chandra - what a learning experience this will be for the WJC bound dark-horse pair of Inoue/Kaneko. Remember they beat both Edi/Arya and Hafiz/Putra in the AJC Team and Individual Events respectively. Kido/Alvent should take this.

    XD R32
Ryota Taohata/Ayaka Takahashi vs Muhd Rijal/Liliyana Natsir [5] - a scratch INA pair since the other halves are playing in PON. The INA pair should reach at least QF.

That's the second person who's said no KOR...but I can plainly see a few Koreans in the draw.

No loss if no CHN, for many years they didn't turn up to INA Opens.
