So,I am curious that how much would Lee Chong Wei or Lin Dan earn normally.....Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal has signed a three-year $7.4 million deal with a sports management firm, making her the country's highest-paid non-cricket sportsperson, a report said Wednesday.
"I am happy and looking forward to start a working relationship," London Olympics bronze-medallist Nehwal was quoted as saying in the Indian Express after signing the deal with Rhiti Sports.
"With Rhiti's background and credibility, they know how to balance things and that is a big plus point," she said.
The 22-year-old, the only Indian to win an Olympic badminton medal, also clinched gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
Delhi-based Rhiti Sports, which deals in sponsorship, advertising and consultancy work, also manages India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, currently leading the side in the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka.
"She has placed India on the world map for badminton and changed the outlook of people in India towards the sport," Rhiti Sports chairman Arun Pandey said.

Got an article here....don't if the numbers are correct or not....

Incidentally, the same sports management agency had signed Dhoni in 2010 for a three-year deal worth Rs 210 crore. Nehwal’s earnings just from endorsements, based on website figures for other top international badminton stars, make for pretty reading. That includes her male counterparts such as Malaysian world number two Lee Chong Wei (who makes Rs 8.8 crore annually, including endorsements, match fees and others) or the Chinese Olympic gold medallist Lin Dan (who makes Rs 12.6 crore annually).

Please search the Malaysian Prof Players thread. Every year, there's a report on LCW's (&Nicol David) estimated earnings. It's more than MYR1 million a year for LCW. LD is reported to earn more

Quite a lot more I think, LCW and LD are covered by a lot of personal endorsements .....
Taufik too, especially when he was in his prime during Olympic and World Champion days. In fact, it is said that Taufik's net worth is even more than LCW or LD.
Yup, the top echelons do get paid well - but it takes a lot to be at the top.

1 or 2 million US dollars is really that not much for the top 2 players of a sport in the world. In another thread discussing players' car, I remember some people said both LCW and LD have multiple expensive sport cars like Ferrari's, Lamborghini's.... especially they are way more expensive in China because of import tax. I would expect their earnings should be in the 7 digits level.

Professional badminton is like a monopoly/duopoly. You only get the $$$ if you're at the very top and winning series after series. This is largely because of the "quality" gap between the best player and a top player where you hardly see anyone out of the Top 5 winning any event.
For LCW, LD & TH...their national hero statuses will guarantee them many big money personal and business contracts

With his political connections, I'm thinking that some of the properties like those supercars that he's had are given to him as gifts.
My statement is possibly pretty correct. Any doubters?
