This was done at home rathter than playing but it still hurt, i stepped down one step at home and as my leg landed the knee went back past the straight position (as if someone had pushed it from the front) i heard what sounded like a pop and it was painfull at the back of the knee for 24 hours but gradually eased over the next two days and i wondered what i may have done, i`m thinking pulled muscle
You may have "popped" a muscle. But you also could have damaged a cruciate ligament. Either way, it wouldn't hurt to take the venerable NHS for a spin and have it checked out. Good luck!
I must admit i`d probably be ok to play friday night but will leave it until monday just to be on the safe side, it seems to stiffen up if i sit for long periods and overnight but each morning it`s improving
Gotta love the first three responses: Rush to a doctor; Consider seeing a doctor; To heck with a doctor. :-/
Given your description of how the injury occurred, you have most probably Hyperextended your knee. Knee hyperextension may be serious as it has the potential to damage the ligaments around your knee, worse case sccenario-the ACL. If the pain continues to bother you after a week or two, or if you find no improvements at all, i suggest that you see a doctor for a diagnosis. I wouldn't be too worried if its improving though, just give it a little more rest and you'll be fine....
Thanks for that, it has continued to get better to the point i played on monday for an hour without any problems
