swijaya, what are the matches in that DVD? Is it complete or only selected ones? Since I'm in india, DVD codes on your disk must not be a problem. Or DVD players take care of every code that exist?.

i believe swijaya means DVD-R . DVD-R is the media that makes most sense economically for swijaya's purpose as it will be write once only and also the cheapest.

with both Han and swijaya selling matches in DVD format. i think i can skip buying a DVD recorder myself...

My format is NTSC recorded with Panasonic DMR-E80H and Philips DVDR-75. I think swijaya format should be PAL, not SECAM as he's located in Singapore, SECAM format is seldom use in Asia?

So can our TV's or DVD players in US watch DVD's in SECAM or PAL format? And what format PC's can read? The media player in XP Home edition can watch DVD's.

    Video format

That depends on the type of DVD player you have, if you've the "multisystem"DVD and multisysem TV then the sky is the limit. However, not many DVD models in US are multisystem. There shouldn't be problem playing on DVD-ROM though.
That's to what I understand abou video format. Feel free to comment on this issue, actually I recall there's a discussion about this topic somewhere in this forum, right Kwun?

I have checked it out .. mine is NTSC ....

my understanding is ... as long as your DVD player are able to play -R format, it shouldnt be a problem.

if your dvd players is within 2 years and the brand name is quite reasonable, you should be able to play DVD -R format.

and there shouldnt be a problem playing them on your DVD ROM.
