All, went to GunnHS today to get me some exercise. was playing terribly, couldn't hit anything. smashes wrong timing, no strength and 3 feet up in the air, pushes are all out, defense hits empty air, drops too high, net shot 2 feet over net, or just plain into the net. rotations was completely miscoordinated, i even got hit once. so, ok, blame the racket! i tried 4 different rackets, no difference. still sucks. my partner, coincidentally, was having just as bad a day as me. we had such a great time laughing at ourselves. perhaps the humor was the only thing that kept us going. we perservered for two or so hours, and suddenly, our touch came back! all shots are now good, jumpsmash sharp and hard, pushes have great placement, defense was accurate and quick, drops was sharp, tight and fast, net shots are tumbling beautifully. rotation was smooth like it was choreographed. and? same one racket. moral of the story is: when i suck, i suck. which racket is better, which string is better, which tension is better, none of those really matter.
Sounds like what happened to me a couple of weeks ago . I was playing very well at first. Then suddenly, my serves couldn't get across the net, if they did they were short, wel, u get the picture. I stopped for a week and everything came back to me.
Hehehe  Kwun, you're human now! To tell you the truth... it's a lack of focus, as I've experienced these things before. Sometimes I get all worked up for play, then start messing up all over the place. That's when someone would usually come to tell me to calm down, and focus on what I do. It works. Also... stop laughing when you play!!! This throws off your shots even more Anywho... talk to you soon. -Kelvin
stop laughing? Come'on badminton is fun! A weird rally is fun to watch and play and at the end your all laughing about the rally
I'd rather laugh than hold it all in and worry about it. This weird kind of temporary loss of ability, returning to a beginner's level, has happened a couple of times. At least I know that I'll get over it and be back at my usual level of play (mediochre) before long.
If u hold it all in, it's bound to escape in giggles, and when u do burst into laughter, it's gonna wreak havoc with ur game.
Cheung's disease? I'm back!! Dizzy from my experiences at the Japan Open. Laughter is not the best medicine,, more badminton is needed for Kwun. Like he said only two hours later the touch came back. The diagnosis is 'badminton withdrawal syndrome'. Part of the symptoms have been described. I think Kwun may be the classical case. I shall name this illness after my own name!!
Re: Cheung's disease? Doctor Cheung, is there a cure for Cheung's disease?? please tell, please tell..
Re: Cheung's disease? Not as far as I know of....yet. To minimise the symptoms, a healthy dose of regular badminton with no late nights at work would be the first step.
