I'm looking for a back support belt or brace that won't restrict movement while playing. Anyone using one? Or thoughts on which one to consider buying?

If you are looking for a back support...I suggest you rest (take some time off) for your back to heal. Once your pain free...I'd also suggest you do some exercises to stregthen your back muscles.

When I was younger I had a weight belt (for doing weights...ie. barbell squats) that supports the back. But I would imagine that it's too clunky to wear for badminton.

The weight lifting belts are definitely a little too bulky and don't allow the greatest movement. I definitely need to find the belt or brace which is more for prevention than anything. Good suggestion on the exercises, but I really need to find a good belt or supportive brace.

Sounds like you should seek medical advice. There's no point taking risks ...

Yes I checked it out medically and this was the suggestion...Do any of the pro players use this type of thing?

Googled "back braces for sports" and found a whole range of products. Something there should suit your purposes.

Cai Yun for sure. And a few of the Chinese WD players. What you want is one of those medium support belts with Velcro attachment.

That's right I know he plays with one of those. There seems to be a lot of these belts on the market, was just wondering what direction to head in terms of brand.
