Hi all, Just checking. If i were to play in a mixed doubles match. Is it a policy/rules that the female player have to take the front? Or it is alright to play how normal doubles plays? thanks in advance
in general, it is better to play with the lady at the net. but there is no law or something that wouldn't allow it. so if you're maybe not that good and have a very good female partner, go ahead and let her play in the backcourt...
i'm looking for a new partner as it will be my first time playing comp. So it would be easier for us to play normal first? It is hard to find playing mixed doubles every game when we go to only social badminton sessions. thanks for your help
There are no regulations or restrictions regarding mixed as opposed to level doubles. For example, the lady traditionally starts in the right hand court, but this isn't mandatory. The tactics that you employ should reflect the relative strength of you and your partner. If you are significantly stronger than your partner, you will be better served playing mixed tactics. In other words, you try and have the lady ahead of you when attacking and cross-court when defending. Please don't fix her permanently to the 't', because that's a waste and can be dangerous. If you and your partner are of similar standard, level doubles would probably work better. Remember, doubles is doubles and most of what is true for level is true for mixed.
