Do you prefer isometric or oval head rackets?

YY said that iso has a bigger sweet spot and is easier to get birdy,but i dun really see it happening...

i like both but iso more... easier to catch birdies... HOWEVER!! theres a difference that it will not be as good as oval is with the same amount of tension strung, the oval will be slightly more tense then the ISO but if strung at high tension then the tension difference is quite significant... Havent touch a oval racket for quite some time... not much oval racket that is good now... but the only difference is oval concentrate the tension into a small spot thus it has more "tension density"<--- (some crap i made up thinking that it works)... btw any oval frame good racket to recommend?

I'm happy using the Oval heads - generally speaking they are far cheaper (because they've been around for ever) and to be honest I don't think that my level is going to improve a huge amount if I go and splash out £100+ on the latest MP, AT, Nanospeed etc. I don't think that there are that many innovations you can make to badminton racquet technology compared to say Tennis or golf equipment and so the key is finding a frame that you like and buying several of them before they stop making them again! Lucky that I like the Cab 21 and Cab 25 series which you can still find in Asia at least

Maybe Yonex will go retro sometime so people can go buy the venerated Ti-10, Boron 2 etc!

i would have thought the iso would be better for noobs given the larger sweetspot. eggheads have a smaller sweetspot but more power... if you can find the sweetspot consistently. anyone else got any thoughts?

personally, oval heads for me... long live the cab!

people do

but people are different, so different racquets suit different people.

if people's power output were likened to car engines,
some people might be like a diesel engine, lots of torque at low revs, long (piston) stroke. This person might like a heavy flexible racquet like a BMW 730d

some people might be like a newer petrol engine, more power at high revs, short (piston) stroke. This person might like a lighter, stiffer racquet like a Honda Civic Type R

You are partly right. A larger frame has a larger sweetspot as well as a higher swingweight, which means more power. AOTBE, there is no way an oval racquet can have a larger sweetspot or more power than an iso.

No question that ovals are the best thing to learn badminton. Smaller sweet spot makes it very unforgiving and they can hold higher tension (other things being constant)

you are partly right
larger frame has higher swingweight only if your AOTBE applies in that sentence also.

racquets don't have power
if you think they do, can you tell me what units you measure the power in.
Horsepower? Watts?

just following neil's bandwagon on taneepak's statement, larger frame doesnt not automatically mean higher swingweight.

ex. iso900/TiSP SA has larger frame head than AT700. Everybody know that AT700 has way more swingweight.

well for the frame size and swingweight, it has to be All Other Things Being Equal, or you could say a steel frame oval has greater swingweight than a graphite iso.
same frame material, but more of it, will give more weight
