Which string to use on Victor MX80
Hello BC and owners of Victor MX80.
I would like to ask what string you use on your MX80 and why? It is a 4U and I play level and mixed doubles. I already own a SW35 and an Arc 8DX and both are strung with Victor VS650 @ 30lbs. I like this string a lot but find I have to cut it after 3 weeks. The MX80 is a bit head heavier than both the other rackets so I am not sure what the durability of VS650 will be like. I've tried VS850 and don't like the hardness so this means BG80 and other hard strings are out of the running. I've tried the Zymax range and not overly impressed either.
If you recommend still using VS650 would pre-stretching such a thin string make it last longer?
Thanks

What I meant by 'what makes you like it' was does it give you better touch around the net, more power for smashes, better control, etc.
I like VS650 as it is gives me better control, accuracy and touch but it lacks power from the rear of the court. I find BG80 a bit one dimensional as it doesn't offer the variety of shots I can produce from thinner gauges

I think the best is still VS 850 to me, as it is something like more feel on the net , and also at 3/4 smashes good..

I am using my MX80 with NBG99 at 26lbs... To me that's the perfect match for my playing style... Except when it gets humid and hot in the gym.. Then I need to go up to 27 or 28lbs

BG66UM and Zm62 are fantastic on MX80. BG80 is good as well. 80P not so well but such experiences can be personal.

This may sound weird since you have been moving towards "high-end" string, but have you tried to move "backwards" and give good old tried and tested BG65 a go .... soft and durable, might just be the ticket, after all Lin Dan etc used them in some of the threads I have read - true or not, well, I cannot confirm personally

Give it a good pre-stretch to minimise tension loss, you may like it.Last edited by maxout; 10-19-2012 at 01:52 AM.

Have you try NBG98 on the MX80? Good repulsion, control and hold tension well.
