So 2 weeks ago, i restrung my VT70 and MX70, both to 24lbs BG66UM at my regular stringer.

Played both sparingly last Sun, nothing too competitive. 2 days ago I happened to see the strings of my VT snapped b/w the 4th and 5th vertical, must have occurred while stored at home the last 4 days.

    broken bg66um 24lbs.jpg

Then earlier today, while trying to retrieve a shot with the MX, heard a loud POP and the cork was embedded near the top third of the string-bed, with the 2nd and 3rd strings snapped.

Is it me being sucky, a bad batch of strings (is there even such a thing!? 1 was yellow, the other was white though...), or my stringer was having a bad day? :(

    All opinions welcomed.. thanks.

Going by the lengths of the broken ends, it looks like the string snapped inside the frame, at the middle of the fourth main. The edges are suspiciously clean, though...

I broke two strings at a tournament last Saturday - it happens:).

For your VT, I would suggest you inspect your grommets.

For your MX, unfortunately if you mishit close to top of the frame, while using thin strings like BG66 or ZM62, string breakage is rather expected...

Thanks for all responses! Will examine the grommets on the VT and moniter more after re-stringng both. :)

Considering I have been using 66UM for the past 2 years+ (albeit at 23lbs), was really quite "lucky" then. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket later... heh.
