Does this racket cracking due to over tension??
Hi,
Today I got a racket of carlton Model is Carbotec 503 & it mentioned Max tension of 28 lbs. So I strung the racket with 27 x 29.
After gutting I Noticed a series of cracks on the both sides.
Can you please tell me if this is caused by over tension.

More likely would be improper mounting in my opinion, not tight enough with the 12/6 posts and/or the side supports not tight enough.
You're sure that they're frame cracks and not scratches from an awl or grommet tool or something?

see my comment in the other forum. it's most likely caused by the use of string mover (hook) by your stringer the last time.

Yes it looks like the marks of string mover but I never uses a string mover for crosses.

I hope that these are only scratches. But I am sure that it is not due to awl (since I never use the awl)
or grommet tool.
It might be caused by the improper mounting. But i have done almost 20-25 rackets never had this issue before.

as said, those scratches were from the LAST stringing job, and stringer used the string mover to cause those. mounting should not cause this kind of tiny scratches, and at string locations for the last time.

why would someone use the string mover at those spots (assuming they appeared at the LATEST stringjob as its been mentionned earlier)
string isnt even crossing those spots

Some will use the string mover at these spots if they preweave the cross strings to pull the string.
If you look at the grommets you can can see that an earlier string have made marks in them on the othe side of the grommet.Last edited by krysser; 11-11-2012 at 04:01 AM.

Actually it happened because of the gutting done by someone before me.
