I don't know how to say this, but hope you would still be able to understand what I'm trying to tell here.

When i served, the shuttle did not reach the first line after the net, so it would be a short service? But what if i served and the shuttle landed on the back court line, would it be a fault? a long service? or anything else?

In short, i want to know the boundaries for service, when will it be called a short service or long service.

Would the boundaries for the service vary from singles to doubles?

Hi,

yes, if the bird didn't manage to reach "the first line", it is short service.
assuming there is no service court error,
a. singles, if the bird has landed beyond "the last line", it is out
b. doubles, if the bird has landed beyond "the second last line", it is out.

plus: the lines belong to the field, so a shuttle on the line is "in".

what do you mean by the last line in singles? and the second last line in doubles? did you mean the "inner" last line? "outer" last line?

the last line starting from the front...the very last horizontal line behind you when you serve. there are two lines on the sides and in the back.

singles service lines are narrow and long, double service lines are wide and short.
