The Finals
The truth is out for tomorrow's finals.
INA' 19 semi-finalists have been drastically cut down to 6, while THA still has 12 remaining out of their 19. Percentage-wise, MAS seems the most successful with 8 finalists out of 11 semi-finalists and SIN has a success rate of 4 out of 8.
In summary the success rates are as follows:
1. MAS 72%, 8/11
2. THA 63%, 12/19
3. SIN 50%, 4/8
4. IND 50%, 1/2
5. INA 31%, 6/19
6. JPN 25%, 1/4
But THA still leads with 12 finalists, followed by MAS 8, INA 6, SIN 4 and IND and JPN with one finalist each. But will THA continue to lead with the most number of winners? And can INA score 100% in tomorrow's finals by winning 6 titles? Or will MAS continue to surprise?
I was told that there will be a live telecast on StarHub Ch 201 and elsewhere in the region.Last edited by Loh; 12-01-2012 at 09:19 AM.

Ramadhani plays with a very laid back style like Taufik
I watched Kisona play in the quarterfinals against the Thai girl. She was very nervous in the first game but made a comeback in the 2nd game. Its a pity this petite Indian girl lost to her taller opponent. I was amused that the Malaysian Chinese female coach was giving Kisona instructions in Mandarin.

Correction. The juniors from the Thai national team are NOT participating in this tournament.
Look out for this Thai girl Chaiwan Pattarasuda in the GS U13 final. I bet she will do vey well just like her counterpart Ratchanok Intanon

Personally I think its great to see local Singaporean talents in the finals - Yeo Jia Min and Gerald Ong. All the best to the players!

was at SBH on saturday and watched a couple of match with local representatives, including the impressive display of gerald ong and yeo jiamin. the extreme small-sized U13 Thai girl caught my eyes too, her strokes were graceful and movement on the court impressive for her age.
couldn't make it to today's match as i had to work. any idea why yeo jiamin got thrashed so badly?

Thailand swept 9 out of 16 titles
As expected Thailand emerged as the most successful competitor in this youth international tournamnent.
It won 9 titles, followed by INA with 3 (BD U13 & U17, GD U13), MAS 2 (BS U17 & BD U15), IND (BS U13) and JPN (GD U17) one each, with host SIN earning nothing.
Chairojkanjana Kittiphon (THA BS U19) and Cheam June Wei (MAS BS U17) stood out in the boys' singles while Thailand's girls' singles, Suwannakijboriharn Sarita (GS U19) and Saengohote Natcha (U17) impressed.
So too are Japan's GD U17, Higashino Arisa and Hamakita Momo.
I did not watch the other matches.
Here are some pictures of mostly the semi-final matches.Last edited by Loh; 12-03-2012 at 03:33 AM.

A bit harsh to say that we didn't win anything. We won a handful of silver medals didn't we?

Might be a bit harsh, but with 4 finalists, some with higher seedings, SIN did not capitalize and ended with minor medals. The Gold is the way to go man!
For example in BS U19, Gerald Ong #2 lost to Thailand's unseeded Kittiphon in a rubber match, but the decider was a little lop-sided at 21-13. Kittiphon has shown he has that extra to be champion!
In GS U19, our more experienced Liang Xiaoyu #1 lost to Sarita #2 of Thailand in two closely contested games.
So it means more work is needed to help our talented players to become champions.Last edited by Loh; 12-03-2012 at 10:06 PM.
