    Hi Everyone,

A friend and I are planning to go down to Toronto (from Montreal) to take private lessons with coach LJB at Lee's Badminton. All plans are tentative but so far here is what we're planning:

    Wed-Friday Dec 12-14
    12-1pm warm up
    1-2pm lesson with coach LJB
2-4 train and work on implementing lesson

We are intermediate level (C in Quebec) looking to train to improve (and move up to B!) If there's anyone else out there that would be interested in joining us, having at least a foursome would allow to train/play game situations and if you were interested could also book a lesson, say 2-3pm so that it would be a two hour block with coach LJB. The cost is 102$/hr for two people (so 51$ each).

But even without the extra lessons, if there were people willing to train at that time (I imagine it will be rather quiet during the daytime), we would appreciate the company and competition. Or if you are members and know that there usually are intermediate + players around then, we can ask them for some games too.

    Joshua

    Hey,

How was your training with LJB? I'm planning to do the same as well with a friend... maybe just take a months worth of lessons with him and then train on our own.

Was it as useful as you thought it would be?

Training with LJB was excellent. He was able to point out critical errors in technique (especially the grip) that would have been impossible to learn just from videos or even probably other coaches as I think he has the best technique on smash returns. It was definitely worth it, and we are looking forward to taking more lessons, if possible in the future. I also think 2 on 1 is the ideal format as it allows for rotation and continuous drills (recover & pickup birds when off). We even tried 3 on 1 but coach said that was not optimal (and we agreed).

We also went from 1hr lessons to 2hr lessons as it allowed higher and longer intensity. 1hr lessons pass very quickly. Enjoy!

wow! that's pretty good. How did you arrange that time slot with him. I mean who do I call and talk to? I am travelling from Manitoba and willing to get some lesson from him.
