I want to know average life of any badminton racket. Taking ideal conditions that there are no clashes and the string is changed every 3 to 4 months period . Tension of the strings being 21 to 22 lbs or even less... My racket rackets are voltric 5 and isometric zeta.. Please do share ur experiences with ur past rackets and present rackets...
It depends on a few factors: 1/Where you store your racket 2/How much you use it 3/How you play, i.e hard smashes if your a head heavy player 4/What games you play, singles/ doubles 5/What shuttle cocks you use I bought a friend a Voltric 80 as a presesnt for helping me out on some legal issues. He had his racket a month before it snapped, this was due to someone hitting his racket on the frame at the most weakest spot. (You can get frames repaired so I have been told by my badminton coach) I have had a Carlton Aero Blade racket for four years before the frame snapped. I get my string re-strung probably every six months to a year. I have plenty as spares and use different rackets for different games and partners, I won't use my Voltric 70 if my partner is new and not upto my level. I don't want my expensive racket snapped. Most common area's to go on the racket is on the shaft, handle or on the side where someone has clashed their rackets. Some club members have had their rackets over 20 years, but bare in mind that they are in their 60's and level of play isn't full on match like you are in your 20's.
Funny you started this thread, I played last night and a friend who had just bought a ArcSaber Z-Slash TH edition literally second day of using it clashed with a AT700 and snapped.
so far, mine is ArcZS which I bought it about 3 years ago, and i have numerous times of restring it. had a many times of clashes, the only thing i cared about is grommet, this is important when comes to high string tensions to prevent any cracks. my only racket cracked into 3 pieces is NS9900 due to high string and forgot to change the grommets. lol. so, my oldest racket right now is arczs...
The only racquet I have ever broken in almost 25 years of playing was my carbonex 21, the racquet head came off the shaft! Touch wood, I don't jinx my good fortune by saying that!
I've only ever broken 1 racket (in a clash) and I've been playing 17 years (now mid-20s). My style of play is still changing, so I get a new racket before the old one is no longer useable. Plus I like getting new rackets :I
Ouch, that got to hurt >_> And I thought that breaking my BG80 string within 5 minutes of warm-up 6 months ago was bad enough... :S
Yeah I'm afraid to say I have that condition too. I believe its called Chronic Racquet Buying Syndrome, there's no known cure, can't be controlled and withdrawal symptoms can result in impulse acquisitions.
to answer the original question: at such low string tensions, with no clashes, the racket will last forever. my rackets usually break when i clash in doubles, happens liek once a year or so... just broke my vt80...
Except for exceptions And if you pick up shuttles with your racket, you will EVENTUALLY wear out the frame, even if it takes a while
it will take about 200 years to wear out a frame by picking up shuttles. or how do you pick up shuttles???
the only racket i've broken was an RSL 4000i, a full carbon graphite racket even down past the cone. i love these "one piece" rackets. the only other "one piece" racket i have left is a carlton powerflo 85G. anyway, the clash happened when i was playing doubles with someone who was using an "educational" racket own by the school. i was heart broken. and even tho it was only $400 HKD, it was my favorite racket, even over the yonex isometric 800SP or the isometric 600 power. and when the idea of buying it used online somewhere, it's too late, too much time had past now i use $80 USD or under rackets when i play doubles recreationally. only in tournaments with my set doubles partner will i use the more expensive rackets. since my level of play is low, difference in rackets don't necessarily affect my performance. however, as soon as i decided to play in a local tournament, i will take time to drill with the more expensive racket so that i'm more familiar with it prior to the tournament.
as mentioned, if low tension, no clash, most decently built racket from the 80's onwards will last a lifetime. but then, for most of us who plays doubles, eventually the fatal clash will come. it is just a part of life.
I mostly play doubles, with nylon shuttle(mavis 500),and I am a hard hitter. Everyone here is atleast so much experienced that they won't clash thier rackets with mine,so problem of clashes nd all....
BUT if the racket is stringed twice in 2 months or so? Den will it have some sort of bad effect on the racket or not?
