where does your string break most often?
as a regular badminton player, we see broken string very often, may be once every few weeks, but do you notice where they break usually? do you mishit and break it near the frame? or does it broke in the middle? mains or cross?
(main is the vertical strings, cross is the horizontal)

I've never thought of this question before but now that I do, I don't think I've ever broken a cross (horizontal) string before! That's wierd...

I find my string usually breaks on the outside of the frame because when I pick up the shuttle it rubs the strings on the outside of the frame against the floor surface. Because I seem to spend a lot of time picking the shuttle up off the floor on my side of the court it makes a significant difference in the longevity of the strings.
Kwun can you please add this option to the poll, I can't be the only one who never breaks a string inside the frame!

I notice that after I play with my strings for a while, the mains seem to cut into the crosses near the center, like cutting the cross strings almost in half. The strings would still work fine, but eventually will just snap when the mains finally cut the whole cross string

In the old days it almost always was a central main near the top of the racquet.
Nowadays, I get a restring before they break, when I notice the strings have cut into each other in the centre.

What happens when the cross strings cut in to the main ones? Less power?

actually for me the power stayed the same, it just made a wierd sound when a strong shot was hit

Just about dead centre, always one of the two main strings in the middle, touch higher than the centre of the head vertically.
However interestingly I've never had a sudden breakage of a string and I like a little fray in my strings (I'm actually the only person I know who frays BG 66 severely ;P).
One of my coaches on the other hand always breaks his string in one hard hit, and it's always the middle cross, weird.

I always tend to break mine dead center on the main, once a month during the season.
I do tend to notice that the strings get pushed outwards & I have to "straighten" them all the time. The friction/rubbing as they move sideways causing the string to wear down quite quickly.
Hmm, Maybe I need to try "slippery" strings which will not cut into each other or go for "stickier" string which is less prone to slippage.

mindfields. that's actually a good point. due to the sideways cut motion, the main strings moves around more often than the cross. and the movement does causes the main to be "cut" by the cross and thus we see more ppl breaking the mains.

I think "slippery" string (Ti strings) tend to move even more often during the "break in" period. Therefore, they are even easier to be "cut"?

Which snaps first, Mains or Crosses
In your experience, which string snaps first? Main or Cross? In my case cross ALWAYS snaps first.

Mains, especially the 2 center ones. Occasionally, one of the central crosses. Rarely, both a main and a cross.

for me, always the centre horizontal one. unless if mishit, usually snap at 10 o'clock
