Hi guys, Im looking into a stringing machine for personal use and maybe some of my club mates. Seen the Shuttle express as a nice budget machine, is it good enough to learn on or should I try to convince the wife that I need a better machine?
How much do you intend to pay for it, if you don't mind me asking? I'd get a machine with fixed clamps if you can possibly afford it.
As it's something to play around with, no more than £250 I guess. It's not something I could do to make money, just for me and mates.
Maybe a Pros Pro Challenger 1 or 2 with that budget will be more suitable? It has fixed clamps but it is a drop weight though. At least you cant go wrong with calibration.
I've looked at the challenger machines, that's why I posted this to see if it was worth the extra expense.
May I suggest this - it was my first machine. £258 + VAT. You will be surprised how fast it makes its money back; I bought mine for club and personal use, and it had paid for itself inside six months.
If you looking for a cheap source of Pro's Pro machine then it might be worth checking out Arfaian.com. They're legit, but based in Austria. I read somewhere they supply PP machines to W&D. Here's a warning though, I had trouble undoing the bolt between my 2 dropweights and asked Arfaian for support. They would've sent me a replacement weight, but I would have to pay for freight charges. Luckily a local car enthusiast managed to undo it using a clamp and large wretch for leverage and it turned out the bolt was rusted through. But the rest of the machine has so far been fine for me.
Is this one worth the extra money? http://www.racquetdepot.co.uk/products/Pro's-Pro-TX700-Electronic-Stringing-Machine.html
There is no simple answer. Pro'S Pro electronic module has some disatvantages. Frequent calibration, no constant pull, poor grip (some strings require 2 turns around the spool), no other function (different speed, foot pedal). But IMO it's better than crank mechanism. In the other hand crank (psp pilot) it's easier to improve to Wise2086. I'm using psp tx500 (like tx700) with my improvements (stand and side supports).
Does any off you have experience of Superstringer machines??? I'm a little bit in to change my Premiumstringer 8600 to an Superstringer T50 or T60. How is the buildingquality compare to other machines? Thans! http://www.tennisman.de/Weiteres/Besaitungsmaschinen-oxid/SUPERSTRINGER/?cur=1
