    Let's talk about this pair.

After Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun era, will they succeed them as No.1 chinese pair or other compatriots like Shen Ye/Hong Wei and Chai Biao/Zhang Nan will do the same thing...?!

Who is the net player? Who is the back player?

I think they are better than Hong/Shen pair. But I think Chai/Zhang are better.

i think there won't be any dominant MD in the china team after Cai/Fu era. all those pair they have right now are more less equal. :p

I'm curious how good these guys can be. They seem like they haven't had as much success as some of the other doubles teams.

Best of luck to this team in the All England 2013 Finals! I hope they can win it.

Liu Xiaolong is showing he has the potential to be a dominating net player like Cai Yun.

Qiuzihan needs to keep his errors down, but he has a decent mid-court drive game.

seeing them today i don't think they are really a front back combination, it was just drive drive drive which worked really well :D

    Qiu Zihan is 22
    Liu Xiaolong is 24

Qiu is quite stocky in his build, but no doubt a good player.

I wouldn't be surprised if China dropped Shen Ye, and found a good new partner for Hong Wei. There's lot of choice for them...

Quite impressed by Liu Xiaolong who plays with the kind of passion and enthusiasm not shown by any Chinese players not named Du PengYu.

They do mostly play drives, but undoubtedly Liu is the front player. Qiu is the back player. They just don't go into that formation that often. I'm glad they play a style that is different from the other chinese pairs.

I also agree that they will drop Shen Ye soon. Shen Ye has nothing that stands out about him. He doesn't really know how to dominate the net, and he rarely scores points off of his racket. Even LiuXL would be a better partner for Hong Wei.

I think Qiu has time to improve his game, but I don't feel that he is very good at the moment. He makes a lot of careless mistakes off his racket. He doesn't have the power of ChaiBiao or HongWei. But because of his shorter height, its easier for him to do mid-range drives.

agree with this. love watching him expressing his never say die and passion in this tournament.

especially in the SF, when they were 13-7 down in the decider, and Liu's face had this almost angry but determined "I'm going to win this..." expression all over it :D

the pair have definitely shown mental strength - their win over the Danes is proof of this.

Well atleast GuoZhenDong was a World Championship Bronze Medalist. He had some good results. I regard Guo Zhendong as a much better player than Shen Ye. But I agree with you, they are similar in that they are good, solid players but without any lethal weapons.

I wonder what it would look like with LXL to play with Fu Haifeng.

I think individually, Chai Biao and Hong Wei are better players than Qiu Zihan. But Qiu is probably a better complement to LXL because of his fast drives.

Please LYB, find Hong Wei a better partner than Shen Ye! Maybe try playing ZhangNan/HongWei. Aren't there any other young Chinese front-court players?

In just 2 most recent weeks, Qiu ZH/Liu XL have defeated World number 1: Boe/Mogensen; world number 3: Lee YD/Ko SH; world number 4: Endo/Hayakawa.

Impressive performance by the pair in this tournament! They deserved the title very well!

But before we talk any further about them, let them first show us some consistency please? =)

I'm particularly impressed by Liu Xiaolong

His ability at the net when he's on a roll is just superb in addition to drive in the most awkward positions.

Could he be Cai Yun's successor? The way he played this week, he is thus far.
