Neil, this is just a guess, but it could be the fact that your playing singles more. You'll be hitting the bird much more often hopefully... . Somethign it noticed that when i play singles is i tend to slice a bit more than i do in doubles. If you are doing the same thing, that could be one of the factors of your strings breaking so quickly.

    my strings from before:
    BG 68Ti@ 22 or 24lbs - 2 yrs, till i cut it 3 months ago
    BG 65 @ 24lbs - 3 months ago till now
BG 65 @ 25lbs - 2 months ago till few days ago, cut it (diff racket)
    BG 66 @ 24lbs - 2 days =.=

i have no idea if there was something wrong with string quality.. but i got it strung, played 1 day with no problem, today, went to play, warm up, mis-hit 3-5 shots (of my first 5 shots =.=) and SNAP!
    sigh.. $24 down the drain
it broke at a cross at the 10 o'clock position... looks like it broke near the rim
guess that'll be the first string i hit-broken

My MP99s are strung with BG-85 @ 29lbs. and they last about 15-20 hours of play, that's it. Actually...less because I switch rackets every 30 minutes or so.

you know, thats entirely possible but i can't be sure. right now i'm blaming myself for mis-hitting the plastic birdie.. but i only hit it 4-5 times and it went snap i should check the grommets when i get it back from the stringer.. i'm trying BG85@22lbs this time, hopefully it will last a lot longer

Personally, a mishit at 24lbs w/ BG66 could easily break it afterall, that thing is REALLY thin but still, do re-check the grommets, especially where it snapped.

Also, I don't think BG66 and BG85 should be used with plastic as it breaks way too easily.

    bg66 (summer) 1-2 months
    bg66 (winter) 20 mins
    bg66/85 hybrid (summer) 3-4 months
    bg66/85 (winter) 1 hour

Edmonton winters are pretty rough on strings =( GOOD thing i have a machine ^_^ it's almost guaranteed a new pack of strings everytime i play!!

Hey guys i use Yonex MP99s recently my string usage has been...high

    in a month i had 4 strings breaks- i only played 7 times !

usually they tend to last for 2-3 weeks, depends on my tournaments and how they tend to set themselves up (example in january/Feb i usually have 5-6 national matches/ tournaments - my string usage is very high one break a week) it tends not to be a massive drain though im sure it adds up its more an inconvience

However it doesnt always happen example would be the 4 day nationals i was involved in all four days playing 14 matches - no string breaks

i get my rackets strung at often 27 -28 lbs with kason KP-90 ???(i thk 66. gauge)
recently i dropped it to 24-25 lbs though the output and feel isnt the same

do u guys reckon these kason strings an't durable enough with my technique to string at 28 lbs? at that i shudnt contiune at that level, i find the strings that dont break easy were yonex bg 65 and bg 65ti howver i hate these strings for feel and power- there very poor in my view.

I'm having the opposite problem =\....

I've used BG80 at 23lb for as long as 4 months, and it's not breaking yet

I kinda want it to break... Just to see what's it like

i've been using BG 85 @ 22lbs for a number of weeks (lost count.. maybe 2-3 weeks) with plastic shuttles, using the same racket.. and nothin has happened.. maybe a little fraying.. not a lot

i couldn't check the grommets though, since i cut my strings on the spot when i broke it

BG66 and BG85 are made specifically for feather birdies, plastic birdies will snap them very soon, especially at high tension

BG-68TI@23lbs (5 days, last friday till today)
    BG-80@23lbs (2 weeks)
    BG-70@23lbs (1 month)
My strings usually don't last very long in general. I think the longest I've ever had my racket on one set of strings is just over 1 month. TOo many string jobs.....

Bg 65 at 22 lasts about month or so...after that it depends on when I mishit I play around 15-20 hours a week. Most of that is doubles where my friends and I like to keep score of body hits, so the dreaded twang on a smash happens pretty regularly...
