Its all about what you play more comfortable with, which in turn increases your performance.
I prefer thinner strings and would play with them if I played more seriously. But after experimenting with these fast bg65ti, its a compromise.
To play at your best you need your perfect racquet/string/tension and grip/shuttle to a lesser extent. There are so many variables that most people just settle on one or two racquets, find a nice rough tension by chance and go with the more popular strings
Those who string their own racquets have a big advantage in this regard.

BG80 is actually extremely durable, there are many people on the forum who have used it @ 27lbs and it had taken about 3 months to break. You should at least try it at around 25lbs. I used to use it @ 22lb and it felt quite dull, but when I moved it up to 25lbs, I had better control, with no apparent loss in power. Of course these are my findings, yours may vary.

I usually string my racket at 24-26 lbs with BG-65. and it usually last about 1-2 months.
I play about 7-8 hours a week.
Smash all the way, loving the high tension!

I have 2 rackets. Apacs Edge 10 for Doubles, and Armortec 700 (new) for Singles.
I have estimated the life span of the BG-65 on each racket. So it last about 48 hours of playing for each racket.
Cheers.

Most of my rackets are strung at 28lbs using BG65, BG65Ti and NBG98. On average i break the string once every 3 to 6 months. I play between 4 to 8 hrs per week. Sometimes i also cut the string and restring the racket if i feel the tention has gone too low, especially on my NS9900 that i use as main racket.

i like to treat string and racket issue separately. IMO string and string tension would characterise the same regardless what racket is used. On the other hand, racket specs and character would not change regardless what string is used. My approach is, first to get what string and string tension that would suit me and then get the racket specs that also suit me, and the combination of the two will be the best for me.
In my case, i wont be able to play my best if using a thin string (eg. BG66) regardless what racket i use, i need to use a thicker string strung at 28lbs (no bargaining on this). On the other hand I also like to use a head light and extra stiff racket, although this racket issue is somewhat tolerable in my case where i still can play my best using a head heavy racket too.

just got my SuperWaves 35 back from the stringer, BG80@26lbs, is there anything I can do to help to preserve my strings ? I want them to last about 2 months or so, anything I can do to help them reach this sort of durability without switching between rackets ?

right now i use either yonex BG-65 or Gosen Pro 70 on my racquets, both .70mm in thickness and i have 200m rolls of each. ill string my 3 AT700's at 29x31 lbs and it will feel great but i dont break it i always restring my racquets before the string breaks, roughly every 3 weeks (4 weeks at the most) ill restring them cause they have lost tension this is with playing a minimum of ~24 hours a week alternating through racquets as well.
