I'm simmilar, my strings would probably last forever but I use gut and the tension goes without warning and they go fluffy, not to the extent of breaking though.

I do tend to replace them when the tension feels too slack, about every 1-2 months, but I did go through 5-6 re-strings in the one month between two rackets because the tension died very quickly.

Well, I'd say the strings differs.

    I have had:
    BG-70 for 1 year+
    BG-65 for 9 months
    BG-68ti for 1 year+
    BG-65ti for 1 year+
    BG-80 for 6 months
    BG-85 for 3 months
    :)

First two years, I used BG65 and they last about 4 months average. I have also had my CAB23 strung with BG68 Ti when I first bought the racquet... it lasted about 2 months. Currently playing with a CAB20 MS (BG 70PRO) for about 2 months now... still going strong.

    G'day,

I think I average about 1 string every 3-4 weeks. But then again I use BG80 & BG85 and neither are known for durability.....

According to my customer records, this is what I found:

BG65 - 8 months + (except one guy, comes back every 3 month!)
    BG66 - 2 months +
    BG65Ti - 1 year +
    BG68Ti - 6months +
    BG80 - 3 months
    BG85 - 4 months

I don't know why I break string so often myself but that's the reason why I decided to start string rackets myself. Now it's turned into a nice little pocket money maker! ;)

here's how long string will last for me, and always breaks near the center on a main, provided I play regularly (every day):

    BG65 - 3-4weeks
    BG80 - 2-3 weeks
    BG85 - 2 weeks

as you can guess I need to string my racquets regularly :p

My string usually lasts for 1-2 months. If ever it goes over that, I still restring it due to the tension dropping down.

That's because you have UBER POWER!!!!!! ;)

    For me:
BG 66 1-2 months before it frays and snaps
BG 65 too long, goes all noodley before it would snap and I always get grumpy and cut it.
    Ashaway Rally see BG 65
    BG 80 3 months.

UBER POWER? I think it is more like un-coordinated power.... Can't hit shuttle cleanly that's why!;)

    Frequency of string breakage

    Hi all,

Just hoping for other peoples experiences on this topic, that is how often do your strings break? Seems that the cost of my restrings is mounting as they only seem to last a month or so. My coach is going to have a look at my racquet tonight to see if there is anything that might be causing it, but in my limited experience this seems quite frequent. I play anywhere between 6 and 16(ish) hours a week, so it's a reasonable amount but nothing exceptional.

    Cheers

Frequency of string breakage can be influenced by many factors. They could be one or a combination of the following : too-high tension, ultra thin strings, you are a hard-hitter, high usage, damaged grommets, bad stringing by allowing kinks in the string when stringing, abrasive string-tensioning gripper, and improper use of the awl on the grommets.

    Agree.

Also, other issues might include type of shuttles, racket storage (dry, cold, hot, humidity, contact with chemical, etc).

Your strings certainly last quite a long time. My wife and I play about the same total number of hours a week as you do, yet she breaks her strings about once every three months and I break mine about once every 2 months. We are not hard hitters and our total ages is close to 130. We have 6 racquets plus an occasional racquet given to me for testing, and we string our racquets at tensions ranging from 20lbs to 26lbs. I do not keep the strings on the racquets for more than 6 months, and that includes the less frequently used ones, as I will restring all my racquets as and when the strings break or at no more than 6 months even if they don't break. It is not too expensive for me as I string my own racquets.
