Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has noticed a slightly different colour for the Muscle Power 99 racket. I have 2 friends with the MP99 and i have one myself, and one of them is a bright yellow, whilst mine and the other guy's racket is more of an orange yellow colour. The ones that are orange yellow were bought here in Australia and Singapore. I have no idea where the bright yellow racket is from (didn't think of asking at the time). Any clues about this???
he might be right. did you get it at a reputable dealer? did you see if the grommets at the base of the head near the joint were the distinctive black-with-red-trim ones?
Most likely its a fake.. even if its not a fake..it should be alright.. Color doesnt make any different in the performance of the racket
I checked the grommets at the bottom of the racket head and it has the red stripes. I don't think it's a fake since one was bought from Australia and i don't think the trade in fake Yonex rackets is big here since there probaby isn't the market here for it (there isn't much of a trade for authentic ones). Coupled with the fact that it's exactly the same as my SP version, with serial numbers printed on the side, i thought they might have changed the colour coz the original one was too bright... but that's just a guess.
I thought the bright one is the fake one. MP99 color is almost close to orange. I think Winex or Ashaway have them cloned in slightly brighter (or lighter) yellow. Why don't you post some pics of your MP99 racket and we will be glad to tell you the right answer.
Ok, here's a few picts that i think closely reflects what the racket looks like in real life. Unfortunately i don't have the brighter racket to compare.
My company is making products with enamel (same as the coating of rackets) and the product's colour is always with slight differences. Enamel colour can be affected by the following factors: 1) tuning of coloured enamel itself 2) duration inside the oven 3) location inside the oven 4) temperature of oven So it is possible to have different colours inside same batch of products. And we are usually selecting some similar coloured products into same carton when packaging. It may not be a fake racket when you find the colour is different with other rackets. In fact that, the MP90 and MP99sp are in different colours. I also have seem two real MP99sp in two colour tones. Fake racket never comes with laser engraved serial numbers and the green cap colour is not solid enough. It is very easy to find it out when compared with real racket.
well,it's indeed a genuine. the fake is almost orange in color. but they had the yellowish color a couple of months ago.
Thanks to everyone for their input. I checked last night and my SP racket colour matched the AS and IP (?) racket colour, all bought from different countries, so it must be the right colour even though the catalogs show a brighter yellow, but maybe the colours vary slightly for different markets. Who knows what goes through the Yonex mind! p.s. Had a hit with an Armotec 700 last night... i want one! Pity i can't justify the cost
Quick update. I found out that my friend's MP99 (which is bright yellow) is indeed a fake. Firstly, there was no serial number on the side of the racket, and Secondly, he said it was a fake! He just wanted to try it out to see if it was any good. Problem solved.
