Glasses vs Contact Lenses

I have been wearing glasses to play badminton for 18 years, I have this problem before I met my wife; after I met my wife, the problem solved..........

Since my brother in-law is working at an Optical Shop. If the glasses are top fit, even heavy sweat, the glasses will only move slightly. I always bring my glasses back to his store and let him to re-adjust for me.

As per Red's description, Oakley is a very good choice for sports, it is top fit and also strong!!!!! But it is too expensive for me........................

dang those oakleys looked sweet. at first i thought they were somehting like those old school big sports googles and that look like they were made to go giving with. now that i see these, ill think about getting it the next time i need to change glasses.

I feel uncomfortable while wearing strap to hold my glasses; What I do is to wear a headband, wear it neat close to your ear to hold the glasses.

I haven't tried wearing glasses during a game session then. I'm just a bit curious.. how do u guys handle these glasses in the middle of that steamy action scenes during the game? Is there a tendency that you'll break 'em due to a bad fall?

though it looks stylish. some of the models aren't good for playing badminton! especially those sunglasses style like "A WIRE" or "C WIRE". the lens need to be fitted on those frame are more curvy. you gotta take quite a while to adapt it. besides, a curvy lens will affect u to estimate the hight of a shuttlecock when playing. so, don't buy those models for baddy!

my recommendations are "CHOP TOP", "BLENDER", the new version of "STRAIGHT LINE" and some older model like "O2".

Go to London Drugs, they sell several kinds of eyeglasses straps. I think the one I bought was "marathon" something.

During play, I'd say that contacts are the way to go. I wear glasses sometimes. I don't wear while playing, at all. Though I should, lol. My eyes are pretty bad, for my age at least. It can be hard to see the back alley lines sometimes, and it can be embarrassing.

I wish I had contacts. My mom said that she wouldn't let me, lol. Apparently, I'm not responsible enough, and she's been reading all these horrid stories, about the injuries they can cause if not properly cared for... It's very naive how she's being so biased because of particular articles.

I have a way of kinda missing the shuttle sometimes, and it's er.. annoying. Though that isn't due so much to my lack of glasses, moreover the perspective if you're looking straight up at the shuttle, while it's coming down.

Anyway, yea, either glasses straps, which, if you're a teenager, like myself, is... really not in style.

Or, contacts. I'd say contacts are a lot easier to use; but that's just me.

This is probably an urban legend. 20 years ago, I heard stories from the older people about contact lenses were made of glass so they were unsafe to wear (wrong! They were made of soft plastic).

I do agree that contacts come in more useful in games. I can wear glasses in tennis and squash but for badminton, especially when receiving high returns ... it could somehow glare when I look up and saw the fluorascent lights. Hence I sometimes misses shots like these. Do you guys share the same experience or is it just me who play lousily???

same here, can play squash with glasses but NOT badminton, while smashing i always had this fear that they will fall off, and of course the vision under fluorascent lights is obscured, in fcat on many occasions i would miss the bird completely. I swtiched to contact and never looked back on specs...

always been playing with glasses on. it even saved me a few times when the shuttle rammed into the lens. a few months ago however i chipped a part of my lens with my own racket while defending from a head smash....still wearing it now though

I'm a dispensing optician and have supplied specialist spectacles to squash and badminton players. My favourites are the rec-specs as they are a decent price and are very durable. Most need a prescription insert although an opticians with an in-house lab and a half decent lab-tech should be able to glaze a set of high base polycarbonate or even CR39 lenses into a semi-wraparound frame. Best bet is to go to your local opticians and ask their advice.

It's not a dumb question.

I always wear my glasses without any support when playing and they don't fall off. There are quite a few players I know who have the same results. Your eyeglasses must be too loose! If you jump up and down do your glasses also move?

i wear glasses while playing badminton. I have not had too many problems with it besides it sometimes hurting your neck because you have to adjust the way you look at things sometimes. I jump alot and my glasses have never come off. Just the glasses will go down alil under eye level but it hasn't effected my play, i guess because i am used to it.
