    Hello BC.

Just thought I would post this thread to see what other users think who will be top dogs by the end of the season.

    Here are my thoughts

MD: Ko/LYD (Korea) or KKK TBH (Malaysia)
    MS: LCW (Malaysia)
XD: Xu/MJ (China) because of injury.
    WS: SN (India)
WD: ? This is difficult as China seem to be trying to blackmail the BWF at the moment so it is open but if I have an educated guess I think one of the pairs from China.

Post who you think are going to rule the roost. :)

for WS LXR should still be world no.1 by year's end...SN should be out of the top 5...

for the former I'm 80% sure for the latter I'm 90% sure!!!!!!!!!!!!

For women's singles, Saina nehwal will be top in 2013. Li xuerui will struggle to be in top 5..

WSX will struggle, just like WYH (unless she can recover well and sharpen the game up).
I think Mitani will stirr things up too, with SN still in top5. LXR will stay at 1 or 2.

SN seems to be doing very well maintaning her ranking points even after injury while the other contenders are either forfeiting it or not playing at all, This would definitely help SN reach that No 1 Spot. The actual serious contenders for that spot are SN,LXR,WYH with TTY,MM WSX,SYJ playing the second fiddle... Cant say about WYH since dont know the extent of her injry and how she plays once coming back... Anyways on a tussle(would love a catfight here) amongst SN n LXR I see SN taking it!!

It seems the equation is simple:

MAS diehards will vote for MAS players
CHN diehards will vote for CHN players
IND diehards will vote for Saina

Mostly with little rhyme or reason. In the end it becomes a popularity contest yet again.

I think, because we are in a post-olympic year, that we will have an open season. Younger players will take there chances and some top-players stopped or have a new partner in the doubles. Especially for the WS, I think we will have an open season with a lot of different and new winners in the Super Series. We saw that already in the first two tournaments of the season. But in the end Li Xuerui will still top the ranking.

In MS, LCW will be dominant and after him, it will be very open.

if anything, so far the turn out seem to be indication that the top Chinese players are not really into playing tournaments at the moment. prior years everyone are complaining that Chinese players are too dominant, killing the sports, yada, yada. now i am sure there are complaints that they are not playing, withdrawling, yada, yada.

but in any case, it is refreshing to see more different players entering the latter round of even the more prestigious SS. MAS SS final has players from 7 different countries. while, KOR SS has 7 countries in semi, and 4 in the finals.

and will we hear anyone complain that LCW is too dominating without LD around? most of the matches play by LCW are downright one sided these days. (oh goodness i am so going to get chopped up for saying that... ;) )
