Yonex is jumping into the training racket bandwagon with the release of the TR1. it's first ever training racket that is supposed to weigh 118g. supposed to stay closer to a regular racket than most other iterations of training racket out there.
that's roughly in the range of the list price the shop has ($70 cdn). Even if they don't throw in free stringing as per their usual practice, it'll only cost me 80 total to string it. For me it beats ordering from mbs + shipping.
As used by Taufik in an exhibition match for his new centre and ID'd in the player's rackets thread last month
yup, and right after someone ID'd it as a trainer was when i fired off an inquiry to the local shop that supposedly could get anything that yonex canada distributes. you guys are awesome
perhaps this model has the highest recommended tension ever by yy... 30 Lbs wonder if we compare yy iso tr1 against victor wrist enhancer 120 ... (both shares the same weight)
And i would stay with my faithfully APACS TRAINING W160.. LOL Yeahhh... this is the most highest ever recommended tensions by Yonex..
here are the pics. FTR, the racket isn't that heavy IMO. Granted I haven't started hitting with it, but the dry weight is only 5 grams heavier than an OLLDDDDDDD Carlton steel frame I have sitting at home. The cover however is a nice touch. Meshy enough to not have that much wind resistance if one decides to hit with the cover on, but light enough to add only a minimal amount of weight. Caveat: In the total weight, the plastic wrap is off, OEM grip on, one layer of rkep G16 grip.
I like the cover, you can use that one for even more air resitence to strengthen your fingers/forearm
I don't see any grip size choice on the price list. However, the two I have received are g5. The racket does feel quite heavy and weights 122.88g on the scale with the plastic wrap on the grip (the other one weights 124.88g). With the cover it weights 154.69g. Just playing around with it, it feels SOLID, and it looks quite good as opposed to most training rackets out there. I love the matte finish. I also like that they tried to innovate with the cover, having small holes in it for less air resistance. But I'm not sure if that's really good or not since usually people use their cover for the extra air resistance.
