help with regular smashes?
Info: Intermediate level player, well balanced (all around) player. not the best at offensebut can still put my opponent on the defense.
Racket: Arc Z-slash 3ug5 strung at 26lbs
so my problem here is that i cant seem to produce a decent standard smash (no Jump) ;whether its a half smash or a "step/hop smash", but here is where it gets tricky.. i can perform a powerful and fast jump smash from the back court. so im sure physicality is not the problem. does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to correct or if not, better my smashes?

if you can do a jump smash with power, then it might be just the timing of not jumping which might be the problem, and also the angle difference of the path of the shuttle after the shot. maybe you're used to having a steeper smash from jumping, so when you smash without jumping, you're not able to readjust for the flatter angle over the net?

footwork and the way your body swing is the answer. try to observe your body motion if you manage to record it down
