Has anybody tried this hybrid or any other combinations?Thought I might try 66 but would be too expensive due to frequent breaks so thinking of 80 for mains and 66 for crosses.Cheers for any input
In my past experiences, hybriding badminton strings don't really make much of a difference. Try it yourself and see if you like it. Preference is all that matters.
i have also asked the same question a couple months ago and everyone who responded said that it doesn't make a difference, so i didn't bother. let us know how it turned out for you if you are going to try it out
There's almost always a string whose characteristics lie between the two you're going to "mix". The only reason to hybrid, IMO, is to get crazy colour combinations... which is no bad thing.
Haha I like that... I ordered blue and violet I think...! Might clash a bit on orange and silver rackets!
I think its not a good idea to mix BG66 with BG80. BG80 is very rough and the BG66 is very thin, so the BG80 will destroy the BG66 very very fast.

It's done.... both bats with BG80 mains and BG66 crosses at 25lbs. Playing Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Sat....
Well it's not snapped yet Feels pretty nice, ultra repulsive coming from month old dead feeling BG80P. Sound is rather nice as well.
Bust one last night BG80 3rd main so I think it was probably a fluke rather than incompatibility of materials. I have another 700FX strung the same and more string so will go again....
Strung replacement strings at 26x27 machine indicated on NR700FX - felt a bit dead and lacking power last night but might have been the hall / shuttles / opposition. Tournament tomorrow so will get a proper feel for it.
Played tourney last sat, felt lovely. 3 more matches this week.... and centre main BG80 broke playing a net kill. (mishit at the top) Have one more set which will go on tonight ready for county match tomorrow. Then it'll be back to BG80P for bit and try something else. Verdict so far is it's VERY nice but BG80 may be a bit fragile for me....
Bust again during match on Sunday Just my backup 700FX with it left now. Think next stop will be to try Zymax 65.... (have used 67 and 62 in the past)
