On the back of a pack of BG85 strings I recently imported it says:

String Tension Recommendation: To ensure minimum "slack" Vectran tension should be 10% less than BG65.

Does anyone actually follow this guideline? It seems absurd to me; it would mean stringing at only 21.5lbs, if my current preference on bg65 is 24.

A racquet is strung with the frame supported. When the support is removed, the head compressess in very slightly, which reduces the actual tension very slightly. The amount depends on the strechiness of the string. Maybe that's what they are talking about?

ynexfan2003, I am planning on switching from BG65 to BG85 too. I currently also use BG65 @ 24 lbs. Did you end up stringing with BG85 @ 21.5 lbs? How does the feel of the tension compare with BG65 @ 24 lbs? Is it equivalent?
